I'm typing this from a Starbucks on State and Adams in the loop, letting my cell and my laptop recharge as I force a coffee into my system. I'm headed to the north side for Bears Brunch at Morseland, but it's great to see so many people out early, wearing jerseys and bears gear.
I love the comeraderie of opening day. Perfect strangers say "Go Bears!" as they pass on the sidewalk, the weather's beautiful, and I'm about to get drunk as a skunk after inhaling some eggs benedict.
However, all the exhuberism in the world doesn't answer any of the questions surrounding this 2011 Bears team. All the fun of opening day aside, we're about to find out who these Bears are and if all the "expert" speculation on the Bears holds water or is merely hype.
Personally, I think these Bears are a lot tougher than everyone makes them out to be. Until we can answer these questions, let's revel in the excitement of opening day. It's a beautiful day to be a Chicagoan. God, I love this ****.
BEAR DOWN, CHICAGO!!!!!
GO BEARS!!!!!!
