Since Thursday was all about Pittsburgh sports, there isn't a whole lot going on here this weekend. Still, there were some meaningful games yesterday:
----------------
(2) Memphis defeated (4) Georgetown in a huge college hoops showdown yesterday. (5) Texas also went down to (10) Michigan State. Pitt should now move up 3 spots, over Duke, Texas, and G-Town. The Panthers face G-Town at home on January 14.
----------------
College Bowl Winners yesterday: Papajohns.com--Cincinnati (making the Big East 1-0); Las Vegas--BYU (with a blocked kick on the final play over UCLA); and New Mexico (in....the New Mexico Bowl!)
In the other two bowls already in the books, Utah and Florida Atlantic were victorious (on Thursday and Friday).
Speaking of Florida Atlantic....just click this link.
----------------
In the NFL, T.O. got hurt yesterday in a Cowboy win over the Panthers. Today, the Steelers can clinch a playoff berth if the Browns lose (at Cincinnati) or if the Titans lose (vs. the Jets)
----------------
The Pirates signed four minor leaguers a few days ago. Again, rather insignificant move but i thought I'd at least mention it.
