Personally, I can't STAND the Buckeyes... but I am seeing them through Badger-red glasses... so that might be a biased opinion. As far as general opinion here in Eugene, most people see them as pretenders who are living on their name recognition. Right or not, that is the perception from most sports fans I encounter around Eugene at work and in the sports bars...

As a kid growing up in NJ, I was a huge Ohio State fan (wayyy back in the day, like Archie Griffin and Woody Hayes). I wouldn't call them the "Yankees" of college football, although I like the analogy, but I for me, I lost interest in them for 2 reasons. The first is that I got frustrated with them always losing in the Rose Bowl to teams I considered inferior. Second, I just couldn't take John Cooper. He struck me as a big phoney (no proof, just a feeling, however unjustified it might be). Nonetheless, as a teacher of middle schoolers,many of my kids (here in NJ) are huge OSU fans. I'm a Gator and I had more kids giving me the business prior to last year's nat champ game than were on my side.....by far.

It's probably the jealousy thing that goes with the territory of being a successful anything. Hope this helps.

I would say that USC is the Yankees of football.

I personally don't hate OSU...I'm a Badger fan, so I always hope Wisconsin beats the Buckeyes...but being in this years National Title game..and basically backing into it doesnt help remove the Luckeye title from that program in my opinion. There not the Patriots of college football to me..I personally hate USC much more than I do the Buckeyes, but then again all the OSU fans that I know aren't the arrogant people they've made out to be

I don't know about the rest of the country, but I hate them. Always have and always will. I live here so it makes me hate them even more. Like Broccoli or Spinach, they're forced on me. I hate being told what to think.

OSU fans are like Corvette owners, they dont care about any other car or car owner, unless its another Vette owner...OSU fans in general could care less about other teams, because they feel they are better than that...
I think that produces some hate...

Before you start comparing yourselves to the Yankees, you might want to win at least 27 championships first! That means National Championships.

I cannot stand seing Ohio State succed, especially as a Michigan fan, but to answer your question yes, everyone hates Ohio State.

O-H-I-O!I wouldn't know if we are hated either because I'm from Ohio,but it would be interesting to know.And so far from the responses I would guess we are hated.
Here's who we should be giving our hate to,the list of teams I hate,
NCAAB Florida(sorry rugator)Louisville,Michigan,Duke
NCAAF same except duke(nothing to hate they suck
MLB Cardinals,Astros,Yankees
NBA Spurs
NFL Browns,Steelers,Patriots.And yes I have much hate in me

I guess from my experience, and this I will say only goes back a few years that I make these statements...
Most fans see themselves and OSU as being better based on the Coach, Tress came in and changed to view, gave the fans a sense of entitlement for what I dont know, but it kind of gave the Buckeyes a swagger that they didnt have under Cooper...
Maybe that works I dont know...
I'm not complaining at all, I love the Bucks and Tress 3 national title shots in 6 years is doing something. right..

I don't hate the Buckeyes.

I was rooting for them in the 2007 BCS title game against Florida.

I will root for them in the NC game, then back to the dire hatred they desreve.......
