Eight bowl games are in the books with three tonight and 21 remianing, and the bowl season is proving to be as fun as the 2007 NCAA football season was. Game-winning kicks, blocked game-winners, blowouts, BCS teams beaten by non-BCS schools, thrilling upsets & more have occured already, and the remaining 24 games will have a hard time beating the games that have been played so far. Let's take a look at the first eight games of the bowl season:
- Poinsettia Bowl - Utah 35 - Navy 32 - Utah scored 28 second-half points en-route to a thrilling 35-32 win over Navy.
- New Orleans Bowl - Florida Atlantic 44 - Memphis 27 - FAU became the third Sun Belt team to be Memphis in 2007 as FAU won the first bowl game in program history.
- Papa Johns Bowl - Cincinnati 31 - Southern Miss 21 - Cincinnati defeated their former Conference USA opponent Southern Miss in Jeff Bower's final game at the helm @ USM.
- New Mexico Bowl - New Mexico 23 - Nevada 20 - The Lobos won their home bowl game by jumping out to a 20-0 lead on their WAC opponent and shut out Nevada 23-0.
- Las Vegas Bowl - BYU 17 - UCLA 16 - BYU beat a BCS Conference team for the second straight season thanks to a blocked 28-yard FG attempt by UCLA as time expired.
- Sheraton Hawaii Bowl - East Carolina 41 - Boise State 38 - Despite a fantastic comeback by Boise State to tie the game 38-38, ECU drove for the game-winning field goal to pull a major bowl game upset.
- Motor City Bowl - Purdue 51 - Central Michigan 48 - Purdue led CMU 34-13 at the half, but the Chippewas came back to tie the score at 41-41 and late 48-48 before a 40-yard game-winner by Purdue.
- Pacific Life Holiday Bowl - Texas 52 - Arizona State 34 - Arizona State has BCS Bowl game aspirations, but Texas showed the Sun Devils just how tough top-tier programs are.
