Panthers Grounded by Flyers

Pitt was knocked from the ranks of the unbeaten tonight in harsh, harsh fashion at the hands of the Dayton Flyers at UD Arena. The game was a complete disaster for Pitt. The Panthers were sluggish indeed, DeJuan Blair got into foul trouble, Levance Fields went down with an injury and didn't return. After, that, the Flyers, their unbeleivable guard Brian Roberts, and their sellout crowd just piled it on against a very depleted Pitt team. This was just a horribly painful game to watch, and we can only hope Fields recovers, or we may be seeing many more games similar to this one. Dayton won, 80-55. Roberts finished with 31. Blair only played 18 minutes. Pitt was 3-25 (thats 9% for those doing the math) from 3-point range. 3-25! It was Pitt's first 25 pt. loss since 1999. Absolutely dreadful. Still, give Dayton credit. They played well and the atmosphere in UD Arena looked to be incredible. It would have been a very interesting game with a full-strength Pitt team though.

On a better note, the mighty Patriots are losing to the Giants 28-16 in the 3rd quarter. PSU leads A&M by a field goal at halftime of the Alamo Bowl. More on the result of those games and a bit more on the rest of today's action tomorrow.
