Yes, he has huge numbers; Brennan had a chance to justify big numbers in a joke conference.  Hawaii had played only two real teams but somehow talked their way into the Sugar Bowl because of the 12-0 record.  I still think the BCS should judge you on strength of schedule more.  Hawaii looked like a team way over their head and their super hero QB looked scared and weak.  The coach argued that Brennan deserved the Heismann over Tebow; anyone agree now?  Even in a bad game Tebow still looked solid and clearly is a great QB.

Brennan said he had never seen speed like UGA and a team that could hit as hard on defense; in his career; welcome to the SEC.  There are many college football teams in several conferences that would have woke him up.  His stock will dive but this will be a geat experience for him and may help him have a future somewhere in a system team that has a great line.

USC and Georgia finished strong with Georgia winning 7 straight.  I bet several teams like the BCS now and are glad there is not a playoff system.

If I had to schedule match ups: this would be my top 5:

Georgia vs. USC- Rose

LSU vs. Ohio State- Championship

Missouri vs. VTech- Orange

Iliinois vs. Oklahoma- Sugar

West Virginia vs. Kansas-  Fiesta

*I know the Big 12 cannot have 3 teams in the BCS but they would have been good matchups.

I know some would be in a bowl game that their conference allowed but these games would have been fun to see.  At least we get to watch one that probally will be a good game but you never know with the SEC.  LSU healthy is a dangerous team.

I am for a playoff team; USC and Georgia would have been fun to watch in the playoffs.  There are others that would have been given new life and might have surprised us.  I do know one thing...If we are going to have the BCS; please have a system that teams like Hawaii; who play two real games; stay out until they play a real season.  Coach June Jones said they were out classed and could not come close to that level of play.  Why were they there?  Illinois had a great season but we all knew that USC would destroy them.

Great upsets and a great year.  We still have 3 more decent games and I know we have shocks in store the next week.

Go Dawgs!

Great reality game in the Sugar Bowl!

nice blog drj0514.......UGA vs USC would be a GREAT game to watch. was sort of disappointed that Hawaii didn't put up more of a fight after hearing about their awesome offense for the past three weeks. the Dawgs' defense deserves a lot of credit for keeping Brennan on his back all night......GO DAWGS! :-)

January 2, 2008  09:11 AM ET

We knew Brenan was solid against weak teams when given allot of time and against teams that had no defensive rushers. I knew we would blitz and clearly they had never played real power and speed. It could have been much worse if our coach had been like Spurrier in his prime as a coach. The announcer needed to shut up. Our back ups deserved to play hard and if they wanted us to play nice in the 4th quarter; do not play in a BCS game.

Dude, I sent you the e-mail about UGA-USC before I even read your blog.. Although, the way both teams played I think both could beat either, LSU or OSU the way they are playing now. It would have been fun to see WVU duke it out with Hawaii or Illinois.

January 2, 2008  09:23 AM ET

how about top 4 playoff georgia, usc, winner of okl-westvirg., winner of ohiost-lsu, i know missouri is getting overlooked but oaklahoma beat them 2, who is better than georgia and usc right now

Georgia, USC, Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio State, Missouri, Kansas and West Virginia would have been fun to see play in a play off. All could have a shot but I do agree that USC and Georgia are on a roll and they are probally the best teams playing right now. Now that LSU is healthy; we will see where they are at Monday. Ohio State is a good team...LSU is better if they are healthy and show up; anything can happen in that game.

Wait until next year. UGA had 4 seniors that started total and have recruited second in the country.

USC, UGA, LSU, Oklahoma, Missouri and Ohio State will be strong teams next year. The Gators and Dawgs will be a huge game next year.

For all the smack I ran on the Michigan faithful, I stand a humbled man.

The Wolverines played a great game. They came to play and send off Lloyd Carr on a winning note. The Gators showed up cocky from 4 straight blowouts capping their season and their defense didn't show up at all. The Gators' D needs to learn that Tebow can't always bail them out of their failure to show, especially if they're up against a team looking to regain respectability with a statement win.

Sad as I am by the loss, that game turned out much more entertaining than the Rose and Sugar Bowls. All respect to Zook and the Illini for a fine turnaround, but everyone saw that blowout coming a mile away. There's always the next season to build on this year's success and Illinois will develop into a real contender.

Congratulations to Georgia for taking care of business. While the this blowout was predictable as well, I give credit to Georgia for showing up 100% ready to play. This team could've easily gone into the Sugar Bowl lax and overconfident (see the Gators) but instead came in with a chip on their shoulder and dominated the Warriors from start to finish. The Dawgs look to be the clear-cut SEC frontrunner next season.

Michigan wanted to honor a great coach and played with passion and heart.. sometimes that makes a huge difference. Florida will be a strong team next year and are young but hopefully learned a lesson in humility. They figured their talent and great QB would help them win easy. They did lack their usual passion and seemed tired. They will regain their form and be strong next year.

Zook has done a great job and will contend in his conference. When will the BCS system figure out that a turn around season does not make you a BCS game contender? It should be 50% strength of schedule. Yes, they beat Ohio State but they also played very few real teams other that Ohio State. One great win does not mean you have "arrived". Zook has done a great job and should be given a long term contract.

Michigan needed a new look next year and the new coach wil do well. They have always had talent; they lacked consistency.

Florida will be in the top 7 and a dangerous team next year. They will only get better. It is a shame UGA and the Gators are in the same side and with no play off will end a shot when they play for the East. I guess they could still have a shot but not winning the SEC probally gives no shot; UGA. I cannot argue that the conference champs should get the edge and LSU took care of the title to give them the edge. Go SEC!

January 2, 2008  10:01 AM ET

I think the only Michigan player to come out looking bad was Mike Hart.
Manningham and Arrington were just brutally lighting us up all afternoon.

January 2, 2008  10:19 AM ET

Prediction: Oklahoma blows away WVU tonight. WVU padded its record against a bunch of mediocre big east teams.

January 2, 2008  10:36 AM ET

Doesn't the subdivision series have 16 team playoff played over 4 weeks? Even if they don't, that type of format seems like it would work.

January 2, 2008  10:36 AM ET

georgia should be in championship by far the best team

LSU won the SEC and have a claim on the big game; the earlier loses cost us. I do agree that USC and UGA are the hottest teams finishing their season.

I do think the rule should state that you have to win your conference to advance. It is clear that is the case and should be written. Our coach said it best when he said LSU earned it by winning the SEC but the rules did not say that was required and it played a role in rankings. He said it should be a rule if it was being enforced as a rule.

i think USC is good enough to be one of the two best in the country, including LSU and Ohio State

Congrads on your Dogs winning yesterday. I thought that Hawaii was going to put up a bigger of a fight then they did though.

I think they were just overwhelmed in all aspects. Now that they've had a tastes of the SEC, June Jones can fine tune accordingly for their season opener against UF next year.

Trust me the gators will destroy them...

Good post and I agree with most of it.

For one, I don't think the Big 12 deserved as many bowl teams as it fielded!
