I haven't seen this story anywhere else on FanNation, and SI isn't allowing comments on it, so I thought that I'd comment (to take my mind off my previous post about USC... hope it helps).
I'm beginning to question what TSUN was thinking, hiring Rodrigue$$$ the way they did. From the article:
Rodriguez said he was caught off guard by all the hard feelings left behind at West Virginia, his alma mater and the place he spent the last seven seasons... "It's been difficult and it's been a little disappointing to be honest with you," ... "But it's been a little disappointing with some of the things with the administration and some of the fans. The fans are just venting at times. But the scope of the animosity caught me a little bit off guard..."
Seriously? You sneak off to interview, announce you're leaving before perhaps the biggest game in school history, quit coaching before the game actually happens, and have the audacity to wonder why folks MIGHT be a little peevish?! But there's more:
West Virginia University's Board of Governors sued Rodriguez to collect a $4 million buyout, saying they believe Rodriguez doesn't intend to abide by the contract. The suit surprised Rodriguez. "I was obviously disappointed to read in the paper and see on the news I was getting sued," he said. "I don't think that's normal. That's not normal protocol, I didn't think. Imagine my shock watching the game at the hotel with my family and it comes across that ticker, getting sued for $4 million. That wasn't a good night."
Imagine THEIR shock seeing you on the news at the airport when you were supposed to be preparing the team for a major bowl game... And finally:
"Obviously I'm very loyal to the staff I had at West Virginia," Rodriguez said. "There'll be several of them coming with me..."
Again, MUST you announce this before the team goes into one of their biggest games? Yeah, THAT'S good for them-- "Hey fellas, not only am I leaving, but I'm taking everybody with me. Best of luck trying to reassemble the team and your future..."
I am liking this guy less and less... Each time he opens his mouth, he sounds more and more like a certain coach down in Florida... brilliant on the field, jack-donkey off...

I'm a little new at this (hey, I'm a UVA fan; don't ASK me about the Gator Bowl), but I assume TSUN has to do with Michigan.
Can you say the meaning here? Or, is this an attempt to get past the FN censors?? I really want to know, seriously.

That School Up North did just beat a team that beat you all 41-14, if memory serves me correctly.
Just having fun.

So, if a team that beat us last year gets beaten this year by a team that we took to task (at home) THIS year, I guess that means...
WE'RE BETTER THAN BOTH OF YOU!!!! MWAH-HA-HA-HA....
