WEEK 7 PICKS
Wed, 14 Oct 2009 22:31:49 GMT http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/463880 FOOTBALL REIGNS SUPREME Thursday Night Update - Huskers! http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/460381
After watching Nebraska completely dominate the 4th quarter, scoring 27 unanswered points en route to a 27 - 12 win, I think it's official, Nebraska is back (or at least on the right track). Remember, they are one miraculous last minute drive at current #5 Virginia Tech from being undefeated. While the offense could use some work, the defense is solid and unyielding all across the board.

Looking at Nebraska's upcoming schedule, I don't see why the Huskers couldn't go 6-1 or so heading into the Big XII Championship Game. They host Texas Tech at home, Iowa State at home, Baylor on the road (without their star QB for the season), host an unimpressive Oklahoma squad, Kansas on the road, Kansas State at home, and an awful Colorado team on the road. That would put Nebraska at roughly 10-2, deserving of a top ten ranking, heading toward a likely matchup with a top 5 Texas in Dallas. And who's to say the Huskers couldn't pull it off?

The job Bo Pelini has done in his short time at Nebraska is incredible, considering the previous trainwreck regime that was Bill Callahan. It appears he has increased confidence and talent on the defensive side of the ball - something that was woefully absent under Callahan. Does anyone else remember that 76 point game against Kansas in 2007? Or any of those other 40-50 point shreddings? Exactly.

At this rate, it'll only be a matter of time before Nebraska is competing for a national championship, and don't think that Pelini doesn't know what it takes to win one, having led a stout LSU defensive run that culminated with a 2007 BCS title win over Ohio State. With Pelini at the helm, the era of the vaunted "Blackshirts" has certainly been revived, and is probably around to stay.
Fri, 09 Oct 2009 17:47:25 GMT http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/460381 FOOTBALL REIGNS SUPREME Week 6 Picks http://www.fannation.com/blogs/post/459719 1) Nebraska beats Missouri
2) West Virginia beats Syracuse
3) Arkansas beats Auburn
4) Minnesota beats Purdue
5) Michigan State beats hapless Illinois
6) Virginia Tech beats Boston College
7) Tennessee beats Georgia
8) Oklahoma State survives at Texas A&M
9) Mississippi State beats Houston
10) Kansas throttles Iowa State
11) South Carolina beats Kentucky
12) Pittsburgh beats UConn
13) Indiana wins at Virginia
14) UCLA upsets Oregon
15) Ohio State beats Wisconsin
16) Oklahoma routs Baylor
17) N.
