For all of you Wisconsin fans out there, breaking news. Eh, not really breaking, let's say important. I have started a new blog called buckysfaithful.blogspot.com
It would be greatly appreciated if anybody could check it out and give some feedback.
When a baseball fan looks at the Brewers roster this year, they see players who came into Milwaukee with tons of hype like Prince Fielder and Rickie Weeks. Some see the "veterans" of the team like Geoff Jenkins, Johnny Estrada, Damian Miller, Bill Hall (not considered a veteran by MLB standards but on the Brewers he is), and Craig Counsell. Two key players, who have really come on strong lately, have been Corey Hart and Ryan Braun. Both players prospered in Nashville (AAA), but were not looked at as key components of the team this year. Both were performing well early but lately they have been on fire. In the last 10 games, Hart has hit .422 with 5 HR, 14 RBI, and 19 R. On the whole season, he has hit .321 with 9 HR and 29 RBI. Braun hasn't been as hot the past 10 games with a .350 avg, 1 HR, 7 RBI, and 10 R. However on his short season of which he played mostly in AAA, he has hit .330 with 5 HR and 17 RBI. Both have been the quite duo who have helped this team prosper lately during their winning streak.
Again, the Brewers are cruisin' along. After the gut wrenching no hit defeat at the hands of Justin Verlander, and embarassingly losing the series to the Rangers, the Brewers have won eight of their last nine. all this behind a great offensive resurgence, Cordero closing down games after he hit a bump in the road, and starters not named Jeff Suppan slowing down the opposition. It all started with that 1st game of the Detroit series, a battle between Soup and Verlander. Soup didn't pitch bad, giving up 4 earned through 6 1/3, however, Verlander put up one of the most dominating performences this season, throwing the no hitter while hitting 101 in the NINTH INNING!! Apparently, Yost did something to get into his players' heads that they should stop **** around and play some baseball. The next day, behind a great fill in behind the fill in starter, Carlos Villaneuva, and the stellar bullpen, the Brewers went onto a 3-2 win. In another close game Ben Sheets pitched 5 2/3 striking out 7 recieving his 1,000 strikeout. Another shaky outing by Cordero, put the Brewers faithful on edge, but Cordero got his 24th save as Milwaukee won 6-5. A new series started as the Brewers traveled to the Twin Cities to take on the Twins. Caludio Vargas pitched amazing giving up 3, 2 earned through 6, and Shouse pitched 3 scoreless, as the Brewers won 11-3 behind a Geoff Jenkins grand slam and Prince's 24th homer. The next day Dave Bush took the mound and pitched a great game to a shaky season giving up 2 through 6 1/3. The bullpen was stellar even though Cordero scared us again giving up 2 hits in the 9th but shut the door as we won again 5-2. On Sunday, the Brewers were looking for the sweep. Soup took the mound, but pitched horrible, giving up 9 earned through 4 2/3. When Soup left, the Brewers were down 9-2 going into the 6th. A Tony Graffanino homer put us down by 5. A 3 run 8th put the game in reach, leaving us down by 2. All this was done behind the pitching of troubled reliver Jose Capellan. Going into the 9th down 2, we had Fielder, Hall, and Estrada coming up. The improbable happened, as Prince got an inside the park homer after launching a rocket pop fly into center after Lew Ford lost it in the ceiling. Down 1, Hall and Estrada singled leaving them on 1st and 2nd. Another Geoff Jenkins single left the bases loaded with Graffs up to bat. He, being Graffs, strikes out. Craig Counsell comes up to bat and hits a sac fly scoring pinch runner Gwynn Jr. Corey Hart comes up an strkies out, leaving the game tied. Yost kept in reliever Chris Spurling to pitch the 9th. First batter, Justin Morneau. 2nd pitch, inside. 'Nough said. We greeted the Giants at home with a sweep and showering boos at Barry Bonds. Cordero got 2 more saves, Gallardo made his much anticipated 1st start, Sheets pitched a complete game giving up 2 earned, and Fielder solidified himself as one of the best players in the National League with another homer and some more RBIs. Again, tonight, the Brewers came away with another win, shelling former Brewer Jorge De La Rosa, getting another homer from Corey Hart who has been on a hot streak during this winning spree, and Braun going yard again. One of the best stretches since the start of the season, only appears to be getting better, as we finish the series with the Royals at home, play Houston at home, then travel to Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Washington D.C. Brewers fans, we could be looking at our first divsion title since 1982, and possibly, our 2nd pennant ever. We can always dream.
One of the running stories during the NFL offseason has been the ongoing QB controversy in Miami. What's going to happen with Daunte, should the Dolphins draft Quinn, should the Dolphins acquire Trent Green. Well, the Dolphins acquired Trent Green from the Chiefs. Now the question is, what's going to happen with Daunte. The Dolphins have made it public that they want to trade the former Golden Knight. Daunte, however, wants to stay in Miami and fight for his job. I believe the Dolphins are going to end up trading Daunte. The next question is, to whom. Where is the perfect fit? Then to the north of Florida is a little town called the ATL. There QB is a dumb **** who's getting himself in trouble. And the traded a goob backup in Matt Schaub. Say Roger Goddell takes action against Vick, who's gonna start. Joey Harrington, D.J. Shockley, Chris Redman. How good would it be if the Falcons organization got Daunte, a proven winner, yet maybe past his prime, and brought him in for some healthy insurance if Michael Vick got into more legal trouble. And if you're reading this and saying Michael Vick won't get suspended or get in trouble, that's bull ****. Roger Goddell suspended Pac-Man for the year after not being convicted of any crime. Whether Vick get suspended for 1/2 a season or the whole season, the Falcons would love to have Duante in. Remember this, Daunte Culpepper will be an Atlanta Falcon by the beginning of NFL training camp.
