Coaches Calling Timeouts before game ending field goals
There needs to be a rule change where coaches are not allowed to wait 1 millisecond before a kicker attempts a game-winning field goal and then calls timeout from the sideline just as the ball is about to be snapped. Why not allow the cheerleaders from the opposing team to encircle the kicker as an added distraction as well. Maybe we could get the bands & mascots involved too...If the rules are going to allow this type of behavior in football why not transfer it to other sports...we might as well allow caddies to shout "Noonan" right before a PGATour professional hits his tournament deciding putt on the 18th green. Maybe we could give the coaches in the NBA a handheld remote to stop the clock exactly when they wanted to at the ends of games instead of having to frantically go out on the court to get the officials attention. This is just another one of those things in sports that takes away from the game. If you're going to "freeze" or "ice" a kicker by calling timeout then it should come from a player on the field at the very least. It takes away from an exciting game to see a coach with his stupid grin on his face talking to the ref on the sidelines waiting for that precise moment to snap the old timeout down one second before the kick goes sailing into the air. No true fan of the game wants to see that. It is taking the game out of the players hands.
