Coaches Calling Timeouts before game ending field goals

There needs to be a rule change where coaches are not allowed to wait 1 millisecond before a kicker attempts a game-winning field goal and then calls timeout from the sideline just as the ball is about to be snapped. Why not allow the cheerleaders from the opposing team to encircle the kicker as an added distraction as well. Maybe we could get the bands & mascots involved too...If the rules are going to allow this type of behavior in football why not transfer it to other sports...we might as well allow caddies to shout "Noonan" right before a PGATour professional hits his tournament deciding putt on the 18th green. Maybe we could give the coaches in the NBA a handheld remote to stop the clock exactly when they wanted to at the ends of games instead of having to frantically go out on the court to get the officials attention. This is just another one of those things in sports that takes away from the game. If you're going to "freeze" or "ice" a kicker by calling timeout then it should come from a player on the field at the very least. It takes away from an exciting game to see a coach with his stupid grin on his face talking to the ref on the sidelines waiting for that precise moment to snap the old timeout down one second before the kick goes sailing into the air. No true fan of the game wants to see that. It is taking the game out of the players hands.

Regarding: Twins to shop Cy Young winner

In response to:
Twins to shop Cy Young winner
The Twins don't have to trade Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana this winter, but they are expected to shop the left-handed pitcher who can become a free agent after next season. There will be more of a market for Santana, 28, this winter than next July before the trade deadline. The Mets, run by Omar Minaya, remain the strong favorite to acquire him if he leaves.

The Twins will certainly look hard at offers involving hitters with power and/or 3B help. For them to trade Santana and get back more pitching prospects makes no sense for an organization already loaded with young arms ( Garza, Slowey, Liriano, Baker, etc.) They have a huge hole at 3B and could definitely use some OF help. If at least 1 of those 2 holes are not filled in the deal, then there will be no deal. With Terry Ryan gone, the Twins may be willing to look less toward the future and more towards winning now. Mauer, Morneau, Cuddyer need help or the Twins will not compete despite having a talented pitching staff, especially if Hunter leaves.
