The State of the Phillies

Anyone who watches the Phillies knows one thing. Adam Eaton is terrible. In his short Phillies career, he has a 6.06 ERA and despite winning 10 games last year largely due to the offensive help he got, he had the highest qualifying ERA in baseball. They also have problems with Brett Myers, who has been the announced starter for July 23 against the arch rival and red hot Mets. I question that decision along with many others the Phillies front office makes. But there is one I agree with- Joe Blanton.

Predictions R Us- Who will win the West

THE SPURS

I know there down 1-0 now, but i still think they will pull it out. The Lakers could win Game 2, and I still think the Spurs have 3 things better then the Lakers that will allow them to win and maybe even win that fifth title in ten years.

1) DEFENSE: They held the Lakers to 89 points in Game 1, and thats after the Lakers huge second half. The Spurs are among the best defensive teams every year, which puts a point to the saying "Defense wins championships". Tony Parker and Bruce Bowen are among the best defenseive players in the league and you can't touch Duncan in the playoffs defensively.

2008 NFL PREVIEW #3- ATLANTA

ATLANTA   OFFENSE- D+   DEFENSE-  C-   MANAGE/COACH- D

As much as I would like to see this team improve, they won't. For a while. If ever.

They think they have a franchise QB in rookie Matt Ryan, who will be very likely to start this year right away. He comes to an offense ranked 29th in the NFL in PPG(16.2), 23rd in yds per game at 301 and will be missing Mike Vick for a second staright year. It also lost Warrick Dunn, to be replaced with first time full starter Micheal Turner. They have a corp of recievers who can't seem to catch, though they did better at that last season. They lost their go to guy Alge Crumpler.

2008 NFL PREVIEW #2- ST.LOUIS

ST.LOUIS RAMS   OFFENSE- B  DEFENSE- C-  MANGE/COACH- C

The Rams were terrible last year due to injuries and underachieving offensively. Their defense is just not good. They don't have a good secondary and their linebackers are average at best. Their pass rush should be good this year with Carriker, Little, and probably Chris Long. But still, defensively, they ranked 31st in the league by giving up 27.4 points a game, and that secondary ranked 21st by giving up 341.1 passing yards a game. Also, for consistent sucess, the Rams need to cut down on turning the ball over, -10 last season. Taking the ball away from the talented offense to the bad defense isn't a good idea.

Why the Spurs will beat the Hornets in Game 4

In Game 3, I noticed the Hornets, primarily Chris Paul, took an early demanding lead over the defending champs on their home court ina pivotal Game 3. Yet the Spurs went on to score 56 in the second half to put the Hornets away for good and make it a series. That is a championship team. Tim Duncan looked like the leader he is, 20 boards. Ginobli made his first start of the postseason, and ended up with 31. These Spurs are still very dangerous. They beat up the Suns, making that 3 vs 6 series look like a 1 vs 8. Now, still in San Antonio, the Spurs have a shot at tieing the series. At home, with three days rest, they can and will do it. Duncan had a fever on Thursday and Ginobili had and has had an ankle problem. Hopefully their good by now.
