Davis Signs On The Dotted Line.....

The Pittsburgh Steelers added a new player to the "Men of Steel" by signing LB Bruce Davis to a 3 year deal today. Details of the contract were not disclosed. 

Davis was a 3rd round choice in this years draft. He is 6'2" tall and weighs in @ 250lbs. He hails from UCLA, where he earned an All-Pac 10 first team & an All-American second team honors.  He is also ranked 2nd on the all time list of players @ UCLA for sacks w/ a total of 29 (Not too shabby...). 

Steel Trims Roster By 4

The Pittsburgh Steelers released 4 players from their roster today, namely veteran RB Najeh Davenport.  Effectively reducing the number of players down to 82.

Davenport  served 2 years w/ the Steelers.  During that time, he rushed for a total of 763yrds w/ 7 TD's and 33 receptions. Having his most productive season last year when he was forced into the lime-light after Willie Parker was sidelined w/ a fractured leg prior to the playoffs..... (Your presence will be missed.....)

Wake Forest Player Becomes A Man of Steel.....

Kevin Marion, WR from Wake Forest signed w/ the Steelers today as a free agent after another player from Purdue (Dorien Bryant) failed his physical yesterday.

Marion is 5'10" & 170lbs...  Classified as a WR & Kick Returner.  Marion finished his Wake Forest career as the "All-time WF leader in kickoff return yards".  He also ranked 3rd in the nation for kickoff return average yards.  The man has definate speed & possibly a set of wings growing out of his shoulder blades... Running a 4.3 40... (Oh My!!!!!).

Steelers: Day 2 - NFL Draft Picks.....

 

Round 3: Bruce Davis - DE, 6'3", 252lbs, UCLA.   Has brains & speed.  This gives him the upper hand @ getting his hands wrapped around the QB...  Classic Steeler-Type Player.

Round 4: Tony Hills - OT, 6'6", 305lbs, Texas.  From the Giants.  Give him time to grow into his position w/ that big frame of his.

Round 5: Dennis Dixon - QB, 6'4", 205lbs, Oregon.  Is a true QB.  Yet can run, pass, & catch...  Steelers will find a way to utilize his skills on offense.
