Olympic Basketball

I'm so looking forward to this basketball tournament. I live in Canada, but come from Greek parents and basketball's my favorite sport, so you can understand why I'd be excited for this one. If you'll recall the last time Greece played the US at the World Championships in 2006 the Greek team won thanks to precision offensive execution and the inability of the American team to hit open jump shots. This is by far my favorite thing in the Olympics this year because Greece has a shot at a medal (second at the Worlds in 2006 to Spain) and I really think this is the second best US team ever after the 1992 team of course.

Don't Fantasy Draft Too Soon

Now that NFL training camps are opening this week it's time to really get into preparing for Fantasy Football. I usually take part in anywhere from 5 to 7 fantasy leagues per year and then some other fantasy games on top of that. It's probably a little excessive, but it also has put money in my pocket and allowed me to closer follow the game that I live. I think it's worth the time I put into it.

The thing I always argue about with people is the draft time. I know too many guys that want to draft in late July or early August, which I think is foolish. The best time to draft is after the last set of preseason games. People are always so eager to draft in July or early August and I find it to be silly. Top guys always get hurt in the preseason because that's just how football is. Wait until the last week of August or the first week of September. There's no point in rushing. The games don't start until that Thursday in New York and the weekend that follows. Tom Brady isn't going to throw touchdowns that count in August. You won't miss a 200 yard game from Tomlinson or Peterson if you draft in late August.

Regarding: McGrady interested in Pistons

In response to:
McGrady interested in Pistons
At least it seems everybody can agree on this: Tracy McGrady is happy. Whether the Houston Rockets will trade him to, say, the Pistons, is another matter. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith stirred that pot Tuesday when he said McGrady wouldn't mind coming to Detroit and joining Team Dumars. Said Smith: "Is Tracy McGrady interested? Yes, he is. I spoke to Tracy McGrady earlier. His basic thing is he's very happy in Houston, but he wants to win. So whatever is a winning situation for him is something he is more than willing to entertain."

Quit Crying, Camby

This from Marcus Camby in the Denver papers:

Still trying to come to grips with his trade from Denver to the Los Angeles Clippers, Marcus Camby talked candidly about his disappointment in the hours after his abrupt departure. "Blindsided, distraught, disrespected. All those adjectives. I definitely feel insulted," he said. "When I first heard about the trade, I felt like I was the scapegoat after all our past first-round exits and failures and lack of defense. I felt it was them telling me that I was no longer wanted and I was the cause of everything that went wrong the last couple years on this team."

Couple of things Marcus needs to know:
