A Letter to Dustin Pedroia
Dear Dustin Luis Pedroia,
I love you.
Have my babies,Cardsox
Dear Dustin Luis Pedroia,
(With a baseball game tomorrow at 9 in the morning, I'm going to make this quick so I can go to bed)
Here's a few thoughts and/or ideas I have going on here:
--Sox are going to Game 7. I have mixed emotions. They no longer have to come back. They simply have to win. The Indians are now in just as deep as the Sox. However, we also have Daisuke Matsuzaka going against Jake Westbrook. How much more lopsided can you get? Can we still get John Burkett in here to spot start? Or have Beckett pitch on 2 day's rest? Or have Papelbon throw out a 9 inning save?
A while back I posted a blog describing a bet that I made with a certain Yankee fan named hiya. The rules? I, Cardsox, bet on the Red Sox, and hiya bets on the Yankees. Whichever team makes it farther in the playoffs is the winner. If they both fail to make it past the ALDS, the the amount of total postseason wins is taken into account. If that number is also equal, then we tie. Whoever wins the bet (me) gets to control the other person's profile picture and name (hiya) through midnight on the day of the conclusion of the World Series. Sounds like a fun bet.
However, not fun enough. Hiya and I decided to make the bet a little bigger, and we included two new pairs of contestants to add to the fun.
Firstly, we obviously have Cardsox vs. hiya. I already explained that above.
Second, nomarfan (Sox) places bets against Lifer, formerly known as yankeeslifer (Yankees). Cleary, nomarfan is the total baller in this matchup for sure. Without a doubt, he is going to win big this October.
Thirdly and finally, we have Mac (Sox) going against B0mb3rs (Yankees). Now, I know Mac. And I know that the Mac would not enter into a bet that he has any slim chance of losing. I think it's clear who the winner on this front is going to be.
In the end (probably somewhere around 10:00 ET on Sunday night), expect to begin seeing some hilariously cruel profile names/logos that have "New York Yankees" listed unter Favorite Teams.
I'm outty.
Warm front: hiya
Great guy, great throwdowner, great sports fan. There's only one problem: hiya is a Yankee fan, and has been one for the past nine years of his flea-ridden...I mean, sports-driven, life.
Cold front Cardsox
Great guy, holds his own in throwdowns, great sports fan. ...Not a lot of negativity here. Just a really cool guy in general, and has been a Red Sox fan for about 7-8 years.
Story Line: Now, hiya being a Yankee fan and I being a Sox fan, we couldn't just watch both of our archrival teams reach the postseason without a little trash-talking. Unfortunately for hiya, this eventually led to us making a bet, one that he will regret for sure.
30 teams. 162 games per team. 2431 total games per season. I picked the right day to watch my first baseball game of the season all the way through.
