Writing Till It Hurts

A lot has happened in the last week and a half.  I can't believe I haven't been on here blogging with everything going on.  Wow what a tournament.  See how long its been for me.  Last time I did a blog was the final four.  Oh yeah and that whole airforce thing.  Well lets get down to business.

Kansas won the NCAA Championship.  Thats awesome.  Seriously though that game will go down as one of the best in a loooong time.  Real quick question for everybody.  WHAT IS THE ONLY SHOT IN THE GAME OF BASKETBALL THAT NEVER CHANGES!?!?!?!  I think if you want to go pro you should have to hit 85% from the free throw line.  You are about to get millions of dollars at least hit the one shot that will always be there for you.  It should be a constant.  "Coach let me work on my dunk more"  Yeah I doubt they say that.  But come on Memphis!  How many did they miss at the end 4 in a row or was it 6?

How To Honestly Get Into the Military

You know, I am glad I have chosen a good profession to work in.  Sure my work is at all time lows right now, but the housing market will have to bounce back, unless America goes back to living in tents.  However, I got a call from the Air Force Reserves yesterday and I started thinking, you know this could be a good idea.  One weekend a month, two weeks a year.  That ain't too bad.  So I started answering their questions and started to get a bad vibe right away.  They began hammering me about whether or not I had ever used drugs in my lifetime.  I am getting older and in my younger days I partied quite a bit.  My college years, like most, were spent doing schoolwork and enjoying the best days of my life.  Maybe I am naive, but I thought if you were honest about yourself you couldn't be harmed.  I was wrong.  Because of my honesty I can not be a member of the armed services.  Its actually kind of funny because I didn't really care either way, but what about someone that absolutely wants to be in the military?

The Final Four and other Thoughts

What a tournament.  My hat is tipped to Stephen Curry and Davidson.  You have now become household names.  Who would have ever heard of these guys before the tournament except the most die hard sports fans.  Now throughout the summer kids will be counting down the clock shooting the three saying they are Curry or the "White Lobster".  Kansas reaches the Final Four with a sigh that could be heard all across the country.  Now for the first time in its illustrious history, The Big Dance features all of its number 1 seeds.  So who will win?  Don't ask me I have been awful at these predictions.  And I feel if I guess I will ruin one teams chances.  I don't want to have that guilt on my soul.  Its really anyone's championship to win.

What Upset?

We all saw it.  Davidson and Stephon Curry put the beat down on Wisconsin.  33 again!  Go get em young fella!  You have now ruined my Final Four.  Everyone is screaming upset but after watching the game I don't think it was an upset at all.  I think the only upset was the fact Davidson was ranked number 10 to begin with.  They simply out-played Wisconsin.  Stephon Curry is a top 10 pick, his supporting cast is for real and Lebron had the best seat in the house.

Jon Daly...Is there hope?

Addictions are crazy things.  You can become addicted to just about anything.  From smoking to watching T.V. anything can captivate you and pull you into an addiction.  But is there hope for a millionaire that is addicted to gambling and alcoholism?  Of course there is, however the individual must be willing to accept that he/she has the problem to begin with.  In my spare time, I do a lot of work with individuals from the Salvation Army and I have learned that there is hope even in the most dire situations.  I have worked with men that have lost multi-million dollar companies and ended up homeless because of a drinking problem.  I have also worked with the average joe that lost his family, friends, and worldly possessions.  And what I have seen is that after the person is absolutely broken and has hit rock bottom, they have a chance to recover.  Before I go any further, I am not saying it is wrong to drink an beer from time to time.  I am saying it is wrong to let that beer take precedence over anything and everything because you feel it will alleviate your pain and suffering.
