I like Bama football

An apology to the Fannation community

I would like to apologize to the members of Fannation.

Yesterday after I heard that Bobby Petrino had resigned as head coach of the Falcons, I was very angry.  I decided to loose my anger through my blog, and I said things I shouldn't have.  My blog post was taken down as a result.  I wish to apologize for my mistake.

That said, I'm still ticked off about the whole thing.  Petrino had three weeks left in the season.  Just wait three weeks, and then hightail it out of town.  But what he did do, which was phone in his resignation before he had finished even one year on his contract, not that long after he had told Falcons owner Arthur Blank he would stay on for another year, was completely without class.

My prediction, signaling the end of football as we know it..

Ok, first I'm going to take care of some things and then get to buisness.

The pianometer.  Joey Harrington was sacked four times in the game last Monday.  I watched.  But do you want to know why?  It's because they started two rookie offensive linemen.  The Giants defense couldn't have asked for a more wonderful opportunity.  If you watch film of the sacks, you'll see that once the defensive linemen got into the pocket, there was no where for Joey to scramble and they were grabbing his arm so he couldn't throw.  That's why he was sacked.  Not because Joey's bad, no way!  But Bobby Petrino decided to start Byron Leftwich.  So although Joey has lost the starting spot he'll get it back in a few weeks.  The Saints defense may decide to put up a fight and that could show that Leftwich is just as bad as Joey, as we saw in the Tennesse game.  Or the 49ers could do it, or the Panthers, or the Bucs...  So I'll give Joey a two this week.

Never gets old!

ROLL TIDE ROLL!

Or not.

Or yes!

I just watched the end of the Bama game.  Quite a game, much better than last week's.  So much more fun to come from behind than to barely hang on to it.  The game could be considered a hang on, but that overturned call was one of the most wonderful things I've ever seen.

The beginning of the end began on fourth down in the red zone, with Bama lining up to kick.  The snap and, ITS A FAKE!  We're tackled and the ball is turned over on downs.  Great.  Personally, if we we're going to go for it, we should have lined up like we were going to.  We stop Ole Miss three times, setting up a fourth down conversion attempt.  They make it.  They take three downs to get another first, and then blast downfield until they were just outside field goal range for the tie.  We sack them.  Incomplete pass.  Another sack.  This next play is the game.

What did I TELL you...

A 41 point spread.  41 POINTS!  This is how big USC was favored to win this weekend against Stanford.  Stanford was 95th in SI's power rankings coming in to that game.  USC was ranked 2nd.  Stanford's defense was ranked 106th in the NCAA.  USC's was ranked 10th.  Stanford's offense was ranked 84th.  The Trojan's was ranked 19th.  It was a home game for USC.  This was unreal.

There was only one good thing about LSU's comeback against Florida, that was that if they did lose, Cal would probably have gotten the top spot.  I don't think they're that good.  Or is it just that this year, we're looking for the best of the worst?  They might fill THAT category.

Year of the Upset...

Just would like to say a few words first...

Congratulations to Brett Favre on beating Dan Marino's record.  Brett has always been one of the best players to play the game, and the way hes playing right now, we may get to keep watching him for a few more seasons.

The Falcons actually won!  I personally am suprised, but it had to happen eventually.  Joey Harrington played really great, and his job security got a little better, a little.  In fact, he has inspired me to start a weekly meter rating his job security.  Introducing
