Week 15 NFL BCS Rankings -- Shakeup in the Top Ten

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Want to get into a flame war? Feel free to post below.

Don't forget: These rankings are based on a computer formula. So spare me the sob stories about how I'm a homer for the Steelers and I have the Browns too low because I hate them.

1)      (1)      Patriots            (.9307)

2)      (2)      Colts               (.8007)

Week 14 NFL BCS Rankings -- Pats Tighten Grip

The Patriots tighten their grip on 1st place this week after demolishing the Steelers. I'll say that I really expected that game to be closer, and it probably would have been had it not been for that Brady to moss to Brady to Gaffney trick play in the 3rd quarter. You could see the Steelers' soul get sucked out of them. And you can't underestimate how angry the Pats got by Smith's guarantee. Even if it wasn't a flat out guarantee, like the media made it out to be, the Pats took it personally and played angry. It's so easy to make them angry, it's scary. And it's like when someone makes Don Corleone angry. He doesn't show it initially. He just waits and watches for his time to strike. And when he does, it's almost immediately over. You get one second to see the look in his eyes (which invariable says $@#! you) and then he takes your life. This is the Patriots.

Week 13 NFL BCS Rankings -- A New #1?

Nnnnnnnoooooot quite. The computer gave hardly a passing glance to last night's nail-biter against the Ravens as the Pats retained their stranglehold on the top spot. However, this weekend's matchup between them and the #2 Steelers has gone from a guaranteed Pats W to a serious question mark. We may actually see a line for a Patriots game where they're less than a two touchdown favorite.

The playoff picture is really starting to take form as we reach the home stretch. Notice once again that the top 7 teams in this week's rankings are division leaders. Every team in the top 13 (with the exception of the Eagles) find themselves in striking distance for the playoffs....

Week 13 Picks: Don't Kick to Devin Hester

Did you know that there is an investigative reporter for Local 10 Miami News named Rad Berky? Yeah.

On to the picks. As always, I get my number from sportsbook.com. Home team in CAPS.

TITANS(-3.5) over Texans: Without Albert Haynseworth this Titans defense is really not that great, eh? Buuuuut the Texans aren't really ever good. I think next year with some solid draft picks and some creative trades the Texans can be decent. They have Williams at end, Schaub is growing, Johnson is strong, and Owen Daniels is going to be a very good tight end next year. The AFC south is going to be a real force next year.

Sean Taylor, Pack/Boys, Bob Knight, Steelers Turf

Miami-Dade County police don't seem too bright. Despite the fact that someone broke into Sean Taylor's house and placed a kitchen knife on his bed just weeks before he was shot to death in that very same home, Miami-Dade cops don't think the two incidents are related.

Miami-Dade police director Robert Parker said Wednesday there were no indications the slain 24-year-old was targeted or knew his assailant.

"There's nothing that indicates thus far that there's some kind of involvement on the victim's part," said Parker, adding it was "more like a random event."
