Alex The "8"...Simply Sensational!!!

I guess the writing WAS on the wall on this

The face of the Washington Capitals for as long as anyone has even followed the sport...was, is and always has been Olie Kolzig.

That changed yesterday. And fans--not just Caps fans, but fans across the NHL--are sorry for that.

Yes, it's true: Olie decided yesterday to walk away from the only franchise he's ever known. It's not a retirement, however; it's just that seeing how Christobal Huet carried the Caps into the playoffs, lit the light bulb over Olie's head that his time here in Washington was coming to an inglorious end.

It's been a hell of a ride, but alas, it's over

Well, somebody has to write this post-mortem. And it's MY blog, ain't it??

     It's over.

6 minutes into overtime, the remarkable season of the Washington Capitals came to a heart-wrenching end. The fact this game went into overtime, should tell you there was no quit from either team.

The final score--3-2, Flyers--isn't the real story here. For 60 minutes plus, America (and parts of Canada) saw one hell of a game tonight. Hey, Alex did his part to get the Caps heading towards the win column...but it wasn't enough, apparently.

Just smell the fear, in Flyers fans, tonight

I just took a look at the poll I have on this blog site. You know, the one that says "How will the Capitals season end??" Anyway, I noticed it was split two ways: either they win the Stanley Cup, or make it at least to the second round. That tells me this--only two people voted, and I might be one of those two.

Can Game 7 get here any SOONER??

And now, it all comes down to Tuesday night...

Can you smell the fear in the Flyers, and their fans?? A week ago, everyone thought this was a fait accompli for the Flyers.

Apparently, Alex Ovechkin didn't get the memo. 2 goals tonight, to help the Caps roar back from a 2-0 deficit in the 1st period to win Game 6 by a 4-2 margin.

Do you still doubt me, FanNation?? Sure, I'm the guy who said the Caps would win it in 5...I was a little off on that, I admit. But I can guarantee you this: Flyers fans would be hard pressed to admit they saw this series going 7 games, either.

We WILL be playing come Tuesday night, folks!!

Game 6 in the Capitals-Flyers series is tonight. Which means, I was a little off in my prediction(s). I said the Caps win in 5 games; it seems the Flyers hold a 3-2 advantage.

     Sue me.

At any rate, I think we're all surprised it's gone to 6 games. But at some point, we're gonna see the REAL Alex Ovechkin break out tonight and show America (or at least the viewing audience on Versus, anyway) just WHY this man is the MVP of the league.
