Thoughts from the WWE Draft

So Monday night had a three hour episode of "Raw" as the now-annual draft took place, where superstars from "Raw," "Smackdown," and "ECW" could all switch brands.

This year they had matches containing wrestlers from different shows, where the winner would give his/her show a draft pick.

Here are the people who are moving on to new shows....

"Raw" picks up:

Rey Mysterio from Smackdown

Point After from SI needs to make a change

I've heard from countless people - whether it be friends or people writing letters to the editor - that when they receive their Sports Illustrated in the mail each week, the first thing they do is flip to the very last page and read the Point After column. I have a sneaky suspicion that this isn't the case for the majority of these people anymore.

For those who do not know, Rick Reilly was the former back page columnist for SI. Reilly was informative, chance-taking, unique, and above everything else, funny. He owned that final page for many years (or at least as long as I've had a suscription, 1999). But a few months ago Reilly jumped ship to ESPN, where he will debut in June and where he will earn a boat load of money.

Dreaming of Tampa

Boy do I have dreams of heading to Tampa, Florida for two reasons.  One, I just got back from Daytona Beach, FL after enjoying a beautiful spring break.  And heading back to Massachusetts to the 36 degree weather isn't too pleasant.  And reason number two is all about the NCAA basketball tournament.  On Friday Tampa was known as Upset City, as all four underdog teams came away victorious.  It was the first time in tournament history such a feat occurred.

World Series Time

It's finally here.  The World Series.  The finale of the long baseball season.

I must say I'm fortunate because for the second time in four years my favorite team is in it.

Actually, for the second time in four years my team will win it.

Everyone loves the Rockes story, including me, but that was all against National League competition.

They are going to be awestruck at Fenway for Game 1 when Beckett takes the mound.  They'll be thinking, "so this is what real playoff pitching is like."

The Fans Get the Last Laugh at Eric Byrnes

So Eric Byrnes, outfielder for the now done-for-the-year Arizona Diamondbacks, says that his team is just getting unlucky and he will teach by example for Game 4 of the National League Championship Series. Um, Eric, is leading by example going 0 for 4 and grounding out to end the game?

Byrnes is known in the baseball world as a guy who always hustles, gets dirty every game, is friendly with his teammates, and dives for any and every ball hit his way. Now he is also known as a guy that can't handle himself too well in the pressure situations.
