spring game

What a beautiful day in Huskerland in what was probably the most anticipated game in years. The Red guys against the White guys. The stadium was packed for the first time in team history for a Spring "Practice".

The feelings in the stands when the team came out to do pregame drills was crazy. It was a dawn of a new era, with new players in the mix, which made it a lot of fun. Watching Adi Kunalic kicking field goals from 40+ yards through the uprights and over the net was incredible. Watching Dan Tichener kicking 50 yard punts was pretty cool too. Then the coaches hit the field. The whole place erupted when Coach Pelini took the field. It happened again when T.O made his way to the field. You could feel the excitement that is Husker Football take hold of the crowd.

End of an era

Brett Favre has called it quits.

I have been a huge fan ever since he put on the Green jersey, and so have the rest of my family.  I have enjoyed his play, his intensity, and the love of the game that many players do not share.  In an era of "Me", or "what have you done for me lately" players, it has been refreshing to watch a player who is all about the team first.

He's the holder of every measurable record in NFL history.  He has won 3 NFL MVP awards (consecutively), He has the best winning percentage in his 17 years in the league of any team during that period.

Getting back in the swing of things.

Sorry that I've let the group down by not having more blogs lately, but with Spring Ball around the corner I'll get things going again.

I'll start out with the Combine performances of our guys, snagged from www.nfl.com .

Sam Keller-  Not impressed with his accuracy.  He has the arm strength to throw 50+ yards, but not the timing to have anybody there when the ball is.  During WR drills, he was all over the place.  He did do well in the 20 yard shuttle, but overall his stock dropped.  Late round pick if any, most likely a free agent pick.

Bo is the Man!

On Sunday afternoon, Interim Athletic Director named Bo Pelini as Head Coach of the Nebraska Football team.  He said that their were 3 things that were imperitive in his search for a new coach: Leadership, Connection with Nebraska, and ability to motivate his team.

Bo was the candidate that best filled these expectations.

Pelini has had several stops as Defensive Coordinator, never as a head coach (other than the bowl win over Michigan at NU).  He worked in San Francisco and Green Bay with the Defense.  Since coming to the College game, he has been D-Coordinator at Nebraska, Oklahoma and most recently LSU.

Bo Pelini has agreed to become the next Husker Coach!!!

According to ESPN and "sources close to the situation" Bo has agreed to become the next Husker Football coach.  I'll wait for TO's announcement before I do any crazy stuff, but the radio's here in Central Nebraska have been breaking in on HS Basketball games to get the info on the air.
