Hip Hop Fan Group's Blog

B.o.B

What up yall? Just made a super member, which is an honor and a privilege. Its dope to have this group on this site because you can very rarely discuss hip hop intelligently on SOHH or AllHipHop.com (which is where I dwell other than here). There are actual hip hop heads who know what they are talking about on fannation.  Just wanted to drop a blog so you all can know where my head is at when it comes to the Art of Hip - Hop.

I know hip hop is very debatable as far as who is the best and who’s whack as sheat but me personally it whatever floats your boat or finds your lost remote. I'm from Austin, TX (DIRTY SOUTH) but have always had an open mind when it comes to hip- hop. The first time I ever got a chill in my spine listening to hip hop was when I first saw the video for "Brenda’s Got a Baby" 2Pac. It blew my mind. At that time all I knew of hip hop being so young really was NWA , Ghetto Boys and UGK.

In come Outkast. Pac was an existentialist however Kast just took it to a different level. The first time I heard

Hip Hop Fan Group: Real Hip Hop Ain't Dead Vol. 6

After such a long hiatus from doing the video series from the Hip Hop Fan Group (Playin' The Game, The Grind, and Real Hip Hop Ain't Dead) I'm bringin' this s*it back full force with yet another ten video Real Hip Hop Ain't Dead blog!!! Volume 5 garnered 11,000+ views so hopefully this one can match or maybe even top that! Let's get it.

1) Nas-Hero

Got Urself A Gun...

2) Lupe Fiasco-Paris, Tokyo

3) Three 6 Mafia-Live By Yo Rep (Bone Diss)  [An old song, but a f8ckin' cult classic]

The Greatest Album I Have EVER Listened to

As I'm listening to the latest album I've downloaded, with all of its eloquent political commentary, meaningful verses, and ridiculous beats, it dawned on me:  This just may be the greatest album I've ever listened to.

Who, and what am I talking about?  Queensbridge's finest, Nasir Jones, and his new Untitled LP.

Some of you may be thinking:  "Dan, isn't it a little bit rash to say an album that came out today is the greatest ever?" Or "Hey, I've never heard any of the songs of this album yet!  He can't be that good!"  To answer the first question, I'll admit, I downloaded about half of the album off of various illegal downloading sites, although I fully expected to buy all of it when it came out. And for the second question, you probably shouldn't be reading this if you gague the ability of any artist, in any genre, by how successful they are, but that's another story.  Let's get into the album itself.

With a simple, suddle piano melody, Nas (if you didn't figure out already who I ws talking about) begins Untitled with Queens Get The Money, a track preaching to all of his listeners in the struggle, at one point talking specifically to single mothers.

"Pregnant teens give birth to intelligent gangsters, they daddy's faceless.

HHFG Presents: The Grind, Vol. 6

Since I haven't made a blog in a very long time and the most recent edition of this got mixed reviews to say the least, I'd like to share a little of my Hip-Hop knowledge with you guys today.

1. T.I.- No Matter What

This is probably the only track I'm listing today that a lot of you may have heard of.  The first single off of his new album, Paper Trail, TIP offers up an introspective record that really shows the trails (literally) and tribulations he has had to deal with in the last year.  DJ Toomp did a great job with the beat.

Hip Hop Videos..Volume I

This idea came to me when I looked at one of Mac's DPS: The Videos blog. I don't know if it has been tried before, but I am going to try it. FM me if you want to do, it too. Something like 3 days apart. Old or new videos.

1. Lollipop- Lil Wayne

I found it really good. Better than I thought.

2. Love In This Club- Usher

Eh, love song...eh..

3. Ayo Technology- 50 Cent feat. Justin Timberlake (eck...)

That's all for today, my head hurts like hell, just tell me if you want to help do this.
