Let's take the draft analysis with a grain of salt

Another April has come and gone, and with it, the remnants of the 2008 NFL Draft.  For the most part, it was good theatre (And faster this year) and it gives football fans a chance to see some of the upcoming stars of the future.  Unfortunately, rumblings have already occurred among some fans disgruntled with their team's drafts.  Why didn't the Bears or Chiefs draft a QB?  Why did the Packers draft two?  And why did the Titans draft a running back so early?  Again!!

Hypocrisy In The Majerus Saga

I want to let everyone know right now that I am against abortion of any kind.

Likewise, I am against embyonic stem-cell research of any kind. (But not adult stem-cell research)

Finally, I will not vote for Hillary Clinton in the upcoming election.

This pits me against St Louis University coach Rick Majerus in all 3 categories.  Majerus, last weekend, stated his support on these issues in a pro-Hillary rally last weekend when asked by a local reporter.  This has raised the ire of Archbishop Raymond Burke, who has called SLU (A Catholic university) to reprimand Majerus, claiming that the coach's viewpoints are in direct violation of Catholic teaching.

Now The Fun For Parcells Really Begins

Well, the Bill Parcells Era in Miami is underway, with a new GM, new coach, and a new era of hope in a city where the Miami U hoops team is the model of excellence.  However, now is when the real test begins.  Maybe the few souls who thought Cam Cameron was the difference between 10-6 and 1-15 will be anxiously waiting for the playoffs to arrive next year.  But for the rest of us, it will bode down to the Dolphins' decision-making about players.  Here are some helpful hints for Dolphins management to consider.

How to fix college sports

Like most young boys growing up, I have very fond sports memories, both live and watching them on TV.  One of my favorite TV memories was the 1983 NCAA championship between Houston and N.C. State.  The drama!  The last second shot by Lorenzo Charles off the Derrick Wittenburg miss!  The frustration and pain felt by the Cougars!  And of course, the jubilation by Wolfpack coach Jim Valvano!

For me, there was another memory:  The fact that Virginia and Ralph Sampson's season went to waste, rendering the regular season meaningless.  I am sure most college hoops fans would feel the same way, just as Georgetown's 1985 season and Oklahoma's 1988 seasons were spoiled by Villanova and Kansas, respectively.  And I am positive that most hoops fans struggling through March madness every year is thinking the same thing.  Bring the bowls to College basketball!!!!
