Super Bowl, Dad & Me

I watched the Super Bowl in a Nursing Home.     Pizza with all the toppings in one hand, a bottle of Coke in the other, I walked into my Dad's room, TV blaring pre-game chatter.      Having had surgery just days earlier, the meal was probably not what his Doctor would order, but it was what "The Doctor" ordered on this Super Bowl Sunday.     Both of us huge New York Giants fans, it was he who gave to me my love of sports, and yes, my love for the Giants.

Super Bowl--New England Patriots Stunned, 17-14

New England Patriots 19-0 perfect season was killed in the Super Bowl, courtesy of the rifle arm of Super Bowl MVP, Eli Manning.     Eli Manning and the New York Giants offense set the tone with a 10 minute opening drive to start the Super Bowl, while a brutal New York Giants defense peppered Tom Brady with pressure from start to finish.   The New York Giants withstood the pressure of an 18-0 coronated champion before them, coming in it to win it, and were not intimidated by either the New England Patriots or the Super Bowl spotlight.

Kobe Bryant & Los Angeles Lakers Get Their (Big) Man

Pau Gasol has been traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, and here is the best look that the Lakers have had at competing in the NBA's Western Conference since Shaquille O'Neal left town.      They traded for Gasol in exchange for Kwame Brown, a dud until now, and two first-round draft picks essentially.

One word-Steal.     The Los Angeles Lakers become dangerous again, only adding more fuel to the Western Conference Playoff fire.    The NBA Western Conference Playoffs will be insane.     Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns-man, is it April yet?

Super Bowl--Eli Manning No More Kid-ding

New England Patriots Haters-you have one Manning left, and it's not the one you though would do your bidding.    These NFL Playoffs have proven that the New York Giants have not made a huge mistake in putting all their hopes in Eli Manning.

In about one month's time, Eli Manning has reinvented himself to New York Giants fans, the media, and most importantly, himself.     As Big Brother Peyton Manning watches this time around from the sidelines, Eli Manning, with a cool touch in the heat of hard road wins, has shown poise and yes, leadership.

Super Bowl Halftime Show--Grizzled

Super Bowls are known for their gaudy Halftime shows, and if one word could be used to describe its performers in recent years, that word would be, "grizzled."     The demographic from the NFL Office calls for aging, primarily white rockers that no one under 25 really knows anything about.    Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones, and this year Tom Petty are prime examples.
