Current NFL Issues and Stories

Franchise Tag: There is a problem with the Frachise Tag. It should be optional or a new contract should be mandatory. If it's optional, the players can leave, end of story, but the Tag would be useless. If the NFL made it mandatory for the team to sign a long term contract with the player then that would be better. No tenders, just contracts.

Culpepper: He was signed to a contract to lead the team and win games. He didn't. Saban had faith in Culpepper, Cameron doesn't. Culpepper isn't Cameron's project, he was Saban's. Cameron is putting in a new system that clearly is working in San Diego, and God speed.

Pro Bowl

There is now a problem with Pro Bowl voting. The Pro Bowl has turned into a popularity contest.

But let's not take things the wrong way, these players are good, but not Pro Bowl good this year.

Examples:

Romo: Played less than a full season and struggle down the stretch. Sure, he had a productive first couple of weeks, but that's because of the lack of knowledge on him. No one had game tape, no one knew what he does. When he first got thrown in against the Giants, he threw 2 touchdowns, but three interceptions, in less than one full game. When he played against the Giants for the second time, he threw two interceptions with zero touchdowns. The Giants were riddled with injuries and had a horrible secondary before injuries, but they knew Romo and neutralized him. Against a mediocre Panthers team, he threw 1 touchdown and one interception. he had twogood consecutive games against Washington and Arizona, 2 touchdowns in each with no interceptions, but it was against Washington and Arizona. No touchdowns and an interception against the Colts. 5 touchdowns against Tampa Bay, it's Tampa Bay. In the next two games against the Giants and Saints, he threw 2 interceptions in each with a grand total of one touchdown. Against Atlanta and Detroit, he threw two touchdowns and one interception in each, solid, but the teams are not very good. Against the Eagles, a team the Cowboys should know, he threw one touchdown and 2 interceptions. Which comes to a grand total of 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, but what really matters is that he threw 6 touchdowns and 8 interceptions in December. He struggled down the stretch when it counted.

NCAA Football Postseason

I am against the whole idea of a playoff system in college football. The problems with it outweigh the gains.

Number of Teams: The sheer amount of teams in college football prevent any playoff system from being effective. There are too many teams that do not meet, and that would cause an inaccurate representation of teams who deserve to be in the playoffs.

Skill Level: The SEC is the most dominant division in college football, but would it be fair to allow a 6-4 SEC team in the playoffs over a 7-3 Pac-10 team? Fans would argue that their respective teams deserve entry and the sport will lose support.

Playoff Predictions

AFC

Division Winners:

North : Ravens : McGahee, McNair, and Clayton have it taken care of on offense, and the defense is always good. Bengals are their biggest threat.

South : Colts - Peyton Manning still has Harrison, Wayne, Clark, and Addai. They will be able to handle Tennessee, who is their biggest threat.

East : Patriots -Probably the safest choice. Barring any Randy Moss meltdown, which causes Tom Brady to have a stroke, they will end on top.
