The second coming for Indiana
The arrival of the highly-touted freshman has brought hope to all who support Indiana basketball. We've always had a reputation as a basketball school, but in recent years we haven't lived up to the standards set long ago. Kelvin Sampson has already jumpstarted the process of revivitalizing our program, and has worked wonders in his first two years. Say what you want about his issues, but he is a pretty dang good recruiter, and he singlehandedly convinced Eric Gordon to switch his committment to us. We will now be a contender, AND perennial NCAA tourney invitee in the years to come. We will now actually get the 5-star recruits instead of just talking about wanting them. We will get more Gordons in the future, but for right now, he IS the reason to be excited about this season. I've been watching (when I can thanks to the damn Big Ten Network), and from what I've seen, he's everything we could've imagined. He has the passing ability and ball-handling skills to be a pointguard, he has the shooting touch to be a threat from anywhere, and he is strong enough to challenge anyone in the nation in the paint. He is a mixture of LeBron James and Chris Paul, and will (in my opinion) end up in the ranks of that caliber of players once he reaches the NBA. Is there any weakness in his game? I honestly am yet to see one. He is a lock-down defender, and can score from anywhere on the court. The only way to stop him is to get very physical with him, which in turn will only fuel his frustration and will inevitably cause him to go berserk on you. And a "hack-a-shaq" method wont work at all because he's a 90% free throw shooter too. All it comes down to is that he will be leading this young team deep into March madness, and we should thank god that he chose us over some second rate team from Ilinois.
