Will steroids affect the popularity of baseball?

The question will come up many times after the Mitchell report (Tank God none of my present Cubbies are one there). I don't think it will change much because a few of the present day guys who were named we already had some suspicion of it. I was happy to see Roger Clemens's name there because he always seemed like he did it. Baseball's popularity is at an all-time high and will continue to be so. Fans came to games because they wanted to see 98 mph fastballs and homeruns hit out of the ballpark. In the 98 homerun chase between Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire brought the fans back to baseball and this was generated through the use of steroids. I am not condoning it, actually I am strongly against it. People want to see baseball be played because they love the heroics and they love the drama of a bottom of the ninth with bases loaded, full count, 2 outs down by one. They want to see Josh Beckett dominate the Yankees in the world series. They want to see the Red Sox break the curse and when the Cubs do it (in 08') they will go nuts to see that as well. This report wont change baseball and it wont discourage the games integrity and fan base. This report just exploited and made known that there have been cheaters and that no matter what you will be caught somehow.
