College Football Best Running Backs

Resently I saw a couple of people in FN arguing about the best back in college. So I decided to make a list of my top five and once and for all make it clear that Barry Sanders should be the number one without a question.

  1. Barry Sanders - He set 34 NCAA records during his Heisman Campaign in 1988. He Average 7.6 yards per carry and over 200 yards per game, including rushing for over 300 yards in four games. He set college football season records with 2,628 yards rushing, 3,249 total yards, 234 points, 39 touchdowns, of which 37 were rushing (also a record), 5 consecutive 200 yard games, scored at least 2 touchdowns in 11 consecutive games, and 9 times he scored at least 3 touchdowns. Sanders also ran for 222 yards and 5 touchdowns in his three quarters of action in the Holiday Bowl - a game that was not included with his season statistics.

  • Jeff Demps #6 (5-10, 180) of Groveland (FL) South Lake. – Will play running back for the Gators.
  • Terrelle Pryor #1 (6-6, 210) of Jeanette, Pennsylvania – I think right now is between Michigan and OSU, but other schools in his list are Florida, Oregon, Penn State, and Duke.

  • Cyrus Gray #4 (5-11, 190) DeSoto (TX) – His list still includes Florida.
  • Franklin Green #44 (5-11, 200) of Savannah (GA) Jenkins (committed): Could be the most underrated prospect the Gators sign this year.
  • Jamie Harper #9 (5-11.5, 214) of Jacksonville (FL) Trinity Christian: Finalists are Clemson, Florida State, Florida, Miami, Illinois Clemson still the one to beat here from what I’ve heard.

SI Covers

Every time I am reading an article in SI.com I see this past issue covers on the side. So I decided to show some of my favorite covers. First I will start with the first issue in case you haven’t seen it before:

This one is my favorite issue of all times. Larry Csonka flipping us off in the cover, this is priceless.

Then there is this picture of William “Refrigerator” Perry…

And the next two are probably the best in character pictures of Joe Namath and Deion.

And I leave the best for last...

Defending the South

Well for the first time I will try to defend the south. Here are some of the teams that have done great because of their recruiting in the south. I should point out that I do not think that the performance of these teams are based entirely on their recruiting from the southern states, but I am trying to highly how much this players (which many criticize because of where they are from) bring to many non-southern teams and why is key to recruit all over the country. I should also state that not all of the players listed are starters on their team but a lot of them have contributed, and that there are more than the ones I listed on each of these teams.

2008 NFL Mock Draft

Since i am not sure of the order yet here is my first try at this year draft. I will update after the Super Bowl.

  1. MiamiGlenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
I would like to see Miami trade this pick for more, since I think they need help on QB, and well every other position. Their defense just got old and Glenn Dorsey could be a good pick, thats why the obvious choice is Dorsey, look at Mario Williams.

  2. St. LouisChris Long, DE, Virginia
