After watching the Suns blow two games in a seemingly ridiculous fashion, I must say that in all honesty and sincerity, I give up on this team. The first stike against them began even before the playoff brackets were decided and signaled the death knell of one of the most prolific scoring and entertaining teams in the league:

The beginning of the end... PHX Suns edition...

Should the impending trade for Shaquille O'Neal go through as expected, the Suns will have completed a disastrous step closer to tripping headlong into the abyss of stupid trades made out of desperation to "keep up with the Jones (Lakers)".  Let me elaborate.. I'll try to keep my disdain and profanity to a minimum...

I'm having a great deal of difficulty in accepting this season as a potential title run. Why? I think the two stunning losses at the hands of MIN (coupled with the two losses the LAL) are an indicator that things are not as they were last season.  However, I'm not yet to the point where I will concede defeat for my team and throw in the towel. That said, let me address each reason why I feel the Suns are at a crossroads of sorts...

As the Kobe turns...

I posted my thoughts on this matter directly onto the story, but here they are again for posterity:

This makes me think more and more each day that his "trade demand" was nothing more than a publicity tool to keep the spotlight on LA and keep the media involved since the last NBA Finals was the least watched of the past 10+ years.

I'm sure ol' Stern-O had his hand in this one, too.

Thankfully I'm not an L.A. Lakers fan and didn't have to endure the daily "will he? won't he?" drama propagated by a certain Kobe Bryant. I doubted his sincerity in demanding a trade from the only team he's played for and I still doubt it now despite what comments this article might say. The truth of the matter is simple: Kobe needed and wanted the spotlight and didn't appreciate a younger LeBron stealing it from him. The Cavs were soaring high after their surprise leap to the NBA Finals, and Kobe hasn't managed to escape the hell known as the first round. Tsk, tsk.. Let's create some drama to draw away all the media focus! "I WANT TO BE TRADED!"

Flameout by the Phoenix Suns!

Last night's game against the Miami Heat was sad and only reaffirmed what everyone has been saying for years: The Suns have a DIRE need for a strong, developed, interior presence to shore up their line. It became glaringly apparent as Heat players went strong and only mildly contested to the hole, unchecked other than by the Suns' only strong defender in Shawn Marion who, by the way, had a stellar rejection of Udonis Haslem and transition dunk off the same play. It was also rather apparent a few nights ago when an awful Minnesota team came in and shocked our Suns. Al Jefferson abused the post all night long.

Despite his 35 years of age and his penchant for playing himself into shape, Shaq repeatedly abused our post players. I have a certain respect for a certain Mr. O'Neal, but he can and should be stopped. The petty fouls that were called by the refs for Shaq also need to stop. It has become more clear to me by the minute just how much sway the refs have in changing the outcome of a game and their "protection" of marquee players. That's another story...
