My NFL Draft Rant

I don't normally blog about the NFL, but I have to make an exception here.

Just a few quick rants about the NFL Draft...

Remind me once more why the draft is televised.

I remember (hearing about) the good old days when the Draft wasn't even televised and we would pick up the paper to see which teams got which players. That would have suited me just fine, but noooooo. In this day in age everything needs to be presented immediately as it happens. What's wrong with finding out the news in the morning? It won't go away.

The Funny Cide of Sports

I've been thinking about writing about this for a while, that is, take a look at all the weirdest/funniest names and of teams and athletes and sports in this place we call Earth. I'll try to stay G rated here but I'm not promising anything.

Sports

1. Chess Boxing- A German based sport that involves two minute boxing rounds followed by four minute chess games. Believe me, I could not possibly make this up. My source says that the sport even has its own governing body, the World Chess Boxing Association. Their motto? "Fighting is done in the ring. Wars are waged on the board."

An amazing poem that I discovered after watching the trailer for Worldwide Soccer Manager 08. The poem is actully about maturing, but it also has a connection to sports and athletes really. Really amazing stuff, thought you all might want to read it if you haven't yet.

Why I Floss

I walk into the dentist's office for a maintenence tooth inspection and repair, which took me an extra half hour to get to because I had held on for dear life to the railings on the stairs in front of my house while my mother tried to tear my unnaturally strong grip from the railing to no avail, and I sit down in the waiting room. Low and behold, a sign on the wall reads:

"Floss your teeth, or you'll see then,

you'll surely meet the drill again."

The Uefa Cup

Alright I'm still trying to get used to blogging, so once again try giving me feedback as you see fit.

The final 16 teams of the Uefa Cup took their places today, and as I grazed my eyes over the remaining teams, I have to say they looked pretty impressive. The best of the rest.  I personally haven't really followed the Uefa Cup, or made an effort to, just because in my mind, the teams are 2nd rate at best. Some I had never even heard of.
