Can Cuban and the Cubs Reverse the Bartman Curse?

Steve Bartmen seat at WrigleyThis past saturday I had the good fortune to attend a Cubs game.  You don't turn down free box seats to the Cubbies on any day, especially a saturday.  After the obligatory pre-game Old Styles outside the park, we found our way to our section and the usher showed us to our seats with a wink.  "Congratulations, you've got the Bartman seat," he told me. Congratulations?

Hearing the news that you are sitting in the Bartman seat was surprisingly similar to finding out the girl you are dating is bi-sexual.  Stay with me on this:

  • Bi-sexual girl - You are initially ecstatic about the potential 3-somes
  • Bartman Seat - You are initially ecstatic and text everyone you know about your seat

Selig Inquires About Mark Cuban, Potential Cubs Owner

As most everyone is aware, the MLB is most likely instilling a new instant replay rule; like the games weren’t long enough, but in the end it is probably a good idea.

Let’s get to more important things, shall we? It appears that Bud Selig has recently spoken with David Stern about that brash Cuban fellow who is front-runner in the bid to be the Chicago Cubs. This is great news for fans wishing to have Cuban as the next owner of the Cubs. The fact that Selig actually reached out to learn more about Cuban as an owner means that he feels Cuban will win the bidding war. I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during that conversation.

Response to the Sports Doctor

RE: THE SPORTS DOCTOR- Heartless: Mark Cuban can't have the Cubs!

Juanita, what troubles you so? My first question would be why is a woman from Virginia spitting hate messages about Cuban and the Cubs?

I read your article and found a couple of holes;

Brand: the Cubs are a brand, but they are a team as well. The league would not survive without strong brands.

Business first, baseball second: aas it should be. But, don’t get it twisted, Mark Cuban is a fan. Watch his antics during Mavs games, the guy is a fanatic. I would not want an owner that is not business first. When you are spending $1B on a team, you have to think business first, sorry about that is classic economics. Would you rather a publicly traded company (SPAC) run the Cubs?

Letter to George Mitchell

While Mark Cuban seems to be the doing a great job at courting the Chicago Cubs, it would be foolish not to continue building assets to support the potential acquisition of the Chicago Cubs by Cuban. With that, I have drafted the following letter to Senator George Mitchell and will be mailing it today. Perhaps you would be so inclined to do the same. George has always been a great asset to baseball and perhaps can help ensure that Cuban receives a fair shake at ownership of the Cubs.

And Cuban is Back to bid on the Cubs

Mark Cuban has not quit his quest to be the next Chicago Cubs owner. Cuban is currently awaiting financial data from current Cubs owner, Sam Zell. The media has been hot with the news, and Cubs fans are eager to learn how their next leader will be. If you want my two cents, Cuban is perfect for the job. A proven winner with incredible leadership skills. CUBANANDTHECUBS.COM
