College Football Top 25 Talk - Week 13

The crazy season continues. This week, we saw good Midwestern defense in the Pac-10, and some west coast shootouts in the SEC. Missouri ended a great run by the Kansas team. Personally, it would have been fun to have Kansas win the title just to see Coach Mangino's players try to carry him off the field. One more week of regular season games left, so there will be some more movement. It looks like West Virginia will finish #1 for me even though they are #3 this week. Although, anything can still happen.

College Football Top 25 Talk - Week 12

As the season winds down, the one thing that is certain is that you can't be certain about anything. By looking at my list, three teams are in the best position to finish at the top; Kansas, Missouri, and West Virginia winning out will leap-frog a lot of teams. Also, Hawaii will easily finish in the top-10 and maybe the top 5 by winning out or they will finish outside the top-25 by losing. My Sun Devils could even make a move, but they have to get past USC to do it. For fun this week, I have bowl projections and the anti-bowl projections for the biggest losers.

College Football Top 25 Talk - Week 10

Another week of football in the books and aside from one major upset, all the top teams held serve. Ohio State just keeps rolling along now, and Kansas announced their presence with authority. Some of the other games were won by very slim margins, however. Instead of traveling to a game this week, I decided to stay home and watch the games on TV. The teams that won those close games showed a lot of team character. They had to overcome hostile crowds, mistakes, and slow starts to come out on top.

College Football Top 25 Talk - Week 9

Aside from the undefeated teams, we are back on the upset train again. Four of the preseason AP top-10 do not even show up on my rankings. None of the five undefeated teams were in the preseason top-10, including Kansas, who did not even garner a vote. How about that parody in the SEC East?

These rankings are a little more scientific. I devised a simple formula for each team which was (2 X wins X defeated opponent wins) - (losses X defeated by opponent losses). For teams that beat a Division 1-AA team, the win did not count and is not reflected in the record. And, for teams that lost to a 1-AA team, they were credited with a loss to the worst team in D-1.

College Football Top 25 Talk - Week 8

Something almost feels wrong this week. Only three top-10 teams lost. It was a nice vacation this week. I made it to the Penn State - Wisconsin game, Rutgers - South Florida, and West Virginia - Mississippi State. Not much to say about the rankings this week. Enjoy.
