Celtics Are Back... Now What?

So this is what it's like to go "Back to the Future". After 22 tough, frustrating and, frankly, pathetic years, the Boston Celtics are once again the NBA Champions. They took a gamble, rather than wait for the future to get here, they traded a bunch of young future prospects for a couple of mature superstars, and it paid off big-time. Next year looks just as good and if things go well the year after looks exciting as well.

So the question for the Boston Celtics becomes; Now that they have completed their "Return to Glory", how can they stay there?

How Has TV Changed The Game Of Basketball?

There's no doubt that TV has had a major impact on basketball as a sport. Yet, for all its impact I don't think it has changed the game or how it is played. More accurately, it has changed the way basketball, the teams and, more importantly, the players are marketed and presented to the fans. In turn, how, what and who we see when we watch a game has changed. In many ways, TV has brought fans closer to the action. Sadly, for all that TV technology has given to us when it comes to watching basketball a lot has also been lost or sacrificed along the way.

Betting on the House.

The Celtics were victorious in their 7th game showdown with the Cavaliers at Boston. Once again avoiding the Mantle of Underachievement by winning the series. It just took longer than it should though is the general buzz. We had to win to advance as well as save face and we did. It was in no way easy. The Celtics are struggling against teams we think they should beat. Things are not looking great in the playoffs so far. We have had serious problems on the road that will hurt eventually if we don't stop the losses.

Celtics Victims of Road Rage.

The Celtics have become the focus of the sport news media and its equivalent of Road Rage. It seems, the fact that the Celtics haven't won on the road yet, has a lot of the sports media elite questioning the Celtics caliber and pedigree. A recent web article suggested that these Celtics are not champions or even championship material. It suggested they were pretenders to the throne so to speak. The word is that they talk the talk but can't walk the walk.

Where Do We Go From Here?

This blog has been published on the Good Sports Group member page as well. I've reposted for the benefit of those who may not have had access to the page before.

The Superbowl will be played on Sunday. It should be a great game regardless of who wins. I've been looking forward to it all season as have most people. Since I joined FanNation I've made a bunch of new online friends and I've enjoyed chating with all of them. The Superbowl will be the cap to a long and pleasant season spent chatting and making friends.
