Dodger Daydreams

Last Night's Preview: Mets @ Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers have a difficult match-up tonight against the New York Mets. The Dodgers' manager, Joe Torre, once played for the Mets and even managed the organization in the late 1970's! But, that's ancient history compared to today's era of Major League Baseball.
Joe Torre also faced the New York Mets when he was the manager of the New York Yankees. He said, "It'll be strange for me. Normally, we play the Mets in New York and, normally, it's crazy. This is a different environment." Thankfully, the Mets aren't huge rivals with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Game Preview: Dodgers @ Florida

The Los Angeles Dodgers are scheduled to start their three-game series with the Florida Marlins later today. The Marlins have a 15-10 record in the 2008 Regular Season, which is good for first-place in the challenging National League East division. Hopefully, the Dodgers will be able to extend their three game winning-streak during the exciting series.

Derek Lowe will be the starting-pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He currently has a 2-1 record during the Regular Season with an Earned-Run Average of 2.45. However, the Dodgers' ace was 0-2 against the Marlins last season.

Jason Schmidt 2008: Coming Soon!

Jason Schmidt of the Los Angeles Dodgers has released the framework of his rehabilitation plan. The 35-year-old hurler is recovering from right shoulder surgery. Schmidt hopes to return to Los Angeles' Starting-Rotation by June.
The former-Giants' ace has a reputation for striking out batters with his flaming fastball and stellar slider. However, Schmidt usually throws too many pitches in each performance and walks batters frequently. Only pitching in six games last season, the former All-Star is now only a potential candidate for the fifth spot in the Dodgers' starting-rotation.

Sweep: Complete!

The Los Angeles Dodgers successful swept the Colorado Rockies with a 3-2 victory on Sunday. James Loney knocked in the winning-run on a single in the 10th inning. The Dodgers now have a 12-13 record with only two more games in the month of April.
Esteban Loaiza made his return to the Dodgers' starting-rotation yesterday. The pitcher surrendered two runs in five innings on the mound. It is reassuring to know that Los Angeles has a solid rotation with Loaiza as a spot-starter.

Chatting with Rockies Fans

Before tonight's exciting game against the Colorado Rockies, I had an opportunity to chat with a couple of Rockies' fans on MLB GameDay. In other words, I was talking with the people that your mother warned us about. Here's our Chat Transcript:
Me: Hello, everyone. It should be a great game tonight. Brad Penny is on the mound for the Dodgers and Mark Redman is pitching for the Rockies.
WayWayCee: Wish I was there!
Me: Same. Unfortunately, I live in New York so it would be difficult for me to be at the game.
