Pac-10 is Better Than the SEC

The combined records of the SEC's non-conference opponents was 47-80 (.370). The Pac-10's was 59-68 (.465). Pac-10 has gone 13-2 (.867) while the SEC has gone 14-3 (.824).

So the Pac-10 has played a much tougher schedule and has a higher win percentage and a 1-0 advantage Head to Head.

You want depth? How about Cal, Oregon, USC, and Arizona State all being in the top 15. The SEC has just LSU, Florida, and South Carolina. Stanford beat USC, Washington State almost beat Arizona State. Arizona almost beats USC, Oregon State beats Cal, UCLA beats Cal, Washington hangs with Oregon, Washington hangs with USC, Wahington hangs with Ohio State I don't see SEC teams beating each other up like evry one says they are doing.

Preview of Cal Football

Besides for Marshawn Lynch (who I've always thought was overrated and they have a suitable backup in Justin Forsett) Cal has all their returning starters on offense. Although their defense was stripped by the draft, it still has many good players from last year (Thomas DeCoud with 45 tackles, Greg Van Hoesen and Justin Moye with 23 tackles each, and Bernard Hicks with 2 Interceptions).

I think they will have a runaway victory to open the season against Tennessee in Berkeley because of their embaressing loss to open last year's season in Knoxville.

I see them at least challenging (if not beating) USC in Berkeley and besides that they should win out at home (only other potential challengers would be Oregon State who they beat by 28 points last year in Corvallis, and Arizona who they will be fired up after they cost them a Rose Bowl last year).
