Reading Group Review: Deadline

I just finshed reading "Deadline" by Chris Crutcher today and it chronicles the life of a senior, Ben Wolf who is terminally ill. Yet he decides to keep his illness from others and try to live a 'normal' life but he soon realizes that nothing is normal about his life.

Ben doesn't accept treatment not wanting to become bald and live a briefly extended life. Instead he decides to live his life to the maximum. He decides to become the best 123 pound football player his school has ever had, give his civics teacher a dose of his true knowledge, finally get the girl of his dreams Dallas Suzuki and help a drunk Rudy McCoy, sober up.

The Gashouse Gang

I recently read "The Gashouse Gang" by John Heidenry.This book chronicles the 1934 St Louis Cardinals,one of the most colorful in sports history.With the likes of "Dizzy" Dean,his brother Paul,Leo Durocher,Pepper Martin,Joe Medwick,and Branch Rickey running the show at GM,the Cardinals put on quite an improbable season,on their way to a World Series championship.

This book tells of how The Great Deppresion crippled the nation as well as baseball in that dark time.It also tells of how the players came to the Cardinals through Branch Rickey.Many stange things occured in order for the redbirds to take home the Pennant as well as the series.

Bag of Bones

I am reading a book called Bag of Bones by Stephen King. I am not finished with it, but it his an excellent book.

It is about a writer whos wife dies. It tells what happens to him and what he experiences at his lake house.

He can even adventure to the Twilight Zone.... LOL

Possible run offs of Harry Potter

    I am a huge Harry Potter fan and find it quite depressing the series is over. However, I think that a couple good run off stories about other characters could be made if J.K Rowling or a good author decided to write them.The next four paragraphs I write will be foucused on different run offs that I think would be excellent stories.

1. The Mauraders- In the third book of the Harry Potter series we will first learn of the Mauraders who were James Potter, Sirus Black, Remus Lupin, and Peter Petigrew. This would not be just a simple book it would be a series about their adventures at Hogwarts. Main points would be them going on adventures while their transfromed, their rivarly with Snape, their other relationships, and their creation of the Mauraders Map. Minor points would include classes, quittich, and their lives away from Hogwarts. This series of books would be much like the Harry Potter books and with the right author great books.

The Alchemyst

The Alchemyst The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel

This is the story of an immortal man,his wife,two fraternal twins,a group of evil people,and magic.It's the first book of a series and I'm not sure how many books will be in the series.

This was a pretty good book.It's fiction,and what's weird,the story takes place over about 2 days,so I envision there will be several more,good ones to come.It was written in 2007,so the second book may be due to come out sometime soon.
