Last Thoughts on Brett Farve

Where I'm coming from.  I'm a Vikings fan who lived in WI during the GB SB yrs, and Chicago after that.  I've spent my whole life living in the NFC North, dating back to when it was the NFC Central (before the Buccaneers became an NFL franchise in '76).  I've seen Brett at his best and worst. and rooted against him all the time, while respecting his competitive nature, but not necessarily his reputation as one of the best QB (of this generation or ever).  Also, if Brett is gonna pronounce it Farve, I'm not gonna spell it Favre, so don't waste time commenting on my title.

The Enigma of Randy Moss

The E. Nigma.  Sorry I saw the latest Ryan Parker song on Hot Clicks where the Patriots are the Legion of Doom and Randy is the Riddler aka Edward Nigma (if the Batman movies are to be believed, but I digress...)

This came up in response to one of my other blogs, what do I think of Randy, did I have sour grapes, hard feelings, etc.  I really like Randy, not only for his talent, and his stellar yrs w/ the Vikes.  I think he got short shrift on a lot of things, but he also had to leave MIN (and later OAK) for the sake of those teams.  Team cancers get traded or cut, and if he becomes a problem in NE, he'd be gone there too.  Belichick is no dummy, he signed Randy to a cap friendly deal that wouldn't make a ripple in the salary cap if he had to axe Randy.

Our long national nightmare is over

"Oooh, and much quicker than usual, too!" - Homer J Simpson

I really thought GB would win and force 2 weeks of slurping Brett Farve, and if the brouhaha over Strahan's comments about Farve Fatigue are any indication, a lot of people were fearing the Farve-Fest as much as me.

I don't like the Giants.  In fact, I still hold a grudge for the humiliation they gave my team 7 yrs ago before their last SB, the game simply known in these parts as 41-Donut.  That game broke up 3 yrs of good times for the Vikings, and sowed the seeds to the disintegration of the once vaunted Vikings O, from which the Vikings have yet to recover, but I digress....

Congressional Hearing - They got off easy

Saw the Hearing.  While they were tough on Selig and tougher on Fehr, I wish they'd been tougher still on BOTH.

Both guys admitted this is a societal problem and a serious and widespread one at that, and they admit that as stewards of the game, this problem happened on their watch.  I think that it's clear they and they alone should take the blame for lack of integrity in MLB.  If you recognize a problem in society, wasn't their responsibility to keep it out of the game?

Oh NOOO!!! Not a Packers SB!

Thanks Dallas, you've screwed me again.  First there was the pass interference in 1975 w/ Drew Pearson on the Hail Mary, leading to the Vikings missing a golden chance to actually win a SB.  Then the robbery of the Herschel Walker deal, leading to 3 Cowboy SBs.

Now you blow a home playoff game against a team you had handled easily, opening the door for the Packers to go to the SB.  I'm gonna be sick.  2 weeks of the media slurping Brett Farve.  2 weeks of will he or won't he retire.  Another week of how great the frozen tundra of Lambeau is.   All because you couldn't take care of business and hold serve in Texas Stadium.
