Sports: The Future of a Role Model or Criminal?

It is clear that sports has no clear cut policy dealing with thugs, drugs or other issues....

I still remember when Strawberry was caught his third time and in jail; the next time I saw him... he was playing for the Yanks.  Rose was one of the best to play and as a player had a great career.  When he became a coach; he bet on games to win and was not only banished for life as a coach but banished from the hall as a player.  It is strange that we have steriod users that used for years in the hall and if Barry could find a team today; he would play; even though he will be convicted as a liar on the stand; give it time.

QB's in the NFL

Why does it seem that so many teams have so many QB's and most of them cannot produce anything?  Kansas City had Green with two back-ups fighting it out that seemed to have a great future.  Now KC is totally clueless who will start; it seems QB's coming out of college are not prepared and clearly struggle in the NFL. Garcia wants a contract to finish his career in TB but clearly they have many options at that position.

I am a 15 year Athletic Director. I have three kids.  I have coached basketball, baseball, soccer and played baseball in college.  I know that life goes by very quickly and the time we have with our families is important.

I read an article today on FN encouraging the use of a system that allows you to spy on your child using a new phone system.  It stated it was a way to make sure they are not doing wrong things and to keep track of them.

College football teams for 2008: Best, Improved and Weak...

I am excited about the upcoming college football season!  There will be many strong teams and a few that might surprise you.  

Most agree a playoff would make it a more exciting season and it would give teams who play in hard conferences hope at the end of their season. However, we all know it will not happen.  If there was ever a time we need playoffs...it is now. The teams next year will prove once again that no team is safe.  It is true some teams only play 3 or 4 real games and they will have a much easier time than conferences with many contenders. A playoff will make teams play harder out of conference games to prepare for a playoff.  They would be less concerned about getting a perfect season and more concerned about getting better.  As long as we do not have playoffs; I do not blame some teams that have joke schedules and almost walk to the championship every year.  However, if they do not play more real games; it will be a joke championship.  We have seen that the last two years with Ohio State.  They are a solid team but their soft schedule hurts them when they have played teams who play hard teams almost every week.  West Virginia almost played in the championship!  They lost to a below average Pitt team at the end; this clearly showed they were over ranked.  I think strength of schedule has to play a big part in ranking; if we refuse to start a playoff system that would at least make teams earn their ranking.

NFL Final Four Picks...

Update: New England enters 18-0 and loses to the NY Giants in one of the best superbowl games to watch in a long time!  This shocked the world and me!  Congrats G-Men! 

We all thought New England would win but it was not the game we expected!  The G-Men looked strong and Eli look ready as they shocked the Pack.  Brett has had a great career but this was not one of his better days.  The coaches failed to adjust and took the ball out of a solid RB's hands and relied on a struggling QB.
