Braves lose to Mets 9-4

by Matt Berliner

Dear Fans,

I was excited to finally get to see a Braves game this season.  The Braves used an assortment of relief pitchers to begin the game.  Peter Moylan got off to a bad start by allowing 3 runs in the first inning.  He had only given up one run so far this spring in 8 innings.  I like Moylan and his winning attitude.  He's allowed to have one bad inning.  Chris Resop and Royce Ring looked really good also.  Charlie Morton however looked horrible.  He couldnt keep the ball down.  He walked a runner in also.  Yikes.  A few others pitched late in the game.  They didnt have names on their backs and the ESPN announcers were often talking about other things during the game.

Braves Trade Tyler Yates, Smoltz ok to throw on Thursday

Dear Braves Fans,

Braves trade Yates...Finally!!

Braves trade Tyler Yates (oh darn) for Pitcher Todd Redmond, a 22-year-old right-hander who will begin the season in Class AA Mississippi's rotation. Yates was ok in our bullpen last year, but there are others who are more deserving of his roster spot, like Blaine Boyer, Chris Resop, Jeff Bennett, or Royce Ring.  Yates posted a 9.00 ERA and nine walks in eight innings.

Baseball, Spring and everything in between

Dear Fans,

With 2008 in full swing, spring is finally here.  If you haven't started your new years resolutions yet, you may want to note the year isn't so new anymore..  Spring is just a few short months and then it's time to start thinking about sun, barbecues, camping, cold drinks, and being lazy.

Does anyone else feel a drag or a sense of time slowing down when the Football season ends?  There's this period of time right after the Superbowl when I get this feeling of boredom.  Basketball isn't attracting my interest, it's cold outside, and everyone's saving all of their sick time and PTO for those vacations and camping trips that seem so far off.  This is when I really need a jump start or some extra energy to take my mind out of idle mode...or maybe I should just leave it there.

Everyone who knows me knows that my mind is in Baseball mode.  I coach a pee wee baseball league with my Uncle, and we're a week away from Opening Day.  Summer is my favorite season and luckily Baseball just happens to coincide with it.  The Major League season is starting also, and you all know I'll be watching every Braves game which will probly lead me to postpone leaving the house for any reason until November.  (Except to do the before mentioned summertime activities listed above...and to go to work).

The weather this weekend was a nice preparation of what we can expect in a few months.  However you know in the back of your mind, even in California that it's still only March....and some rain is probly going to happen between now and May.

And finally, my brother Chris and his girlfriend Sarah are having a baby later this summer.  It's pretty exciting to be an uncle again....although I was hoping to be a dad first...I better get moving....

So I'll leave everyone with a song lyric that should put you in the mood for relaxing, living and most of all ENJOYING life and preparing for my favorite season....Baseball Season!

Go Braves!
