Peyton Manning undergoes procedure

INDIANAPOLIS - Peyton Manning underwent a routine procedure on his knee on Monday afternoon.

Manning, preparing to enter his 11th season as the Colts' starting quarterback, underwent a procedure to remove an infected bursa sac from his left knee, Colts President Bill Polian said in a statement Monday evening.

The statement:

"Peyton Manning had an infected bursa sac removed from his left knee this afternoon. The procedure was routine. The Colts' medical staff expects a full and complete return to action in four to six weeks.

Regarding: Soriano may return for All-Star game

Soriano may return for All-Star game
After another X-ray Friday on Alfonso Soriano's injured left hand, the Cubs said doctors are ''very pleased'' with how quickly he's healing, and he's expected to return from the disabled list sooner than the original six-week prognosis. The Cubs' leadoff hitter has been cleared to start range-of-motion and strengthening work without a splint, the team said. (Read: No batting practice yet). Soriano, who said last week he wanted to start taking BP this week, might have an outside shot at returning in time for the All-Star game -- his other goal.

Soriano does have a history with injury with the Cubs in his two years that includes hurintg his hamstring last year and his wrist this year. He just keeps finding a way to get injured again and again. He is a very good player, finishing the year off at .300 last year and this year is around .300 and has double digit homers and is the lead outfielder in votes heading into the All-Star game. He is also an elusive 6 time member of the 30-30 club and one of four members in 40-40 club.

But is Soriano really worth the money to keep him in Chicago? He drew $128 million in 7 years on a great deal after making the 40-40 club with the Washington Nationals in the 2006 season. He has missed a lot of time in the two years so far, and has not really been worth the money yet. On the upside, he got 97 runs and 70 RBI's on 173 hits despite being injured for a while really did work out.

Is he worth it? I say yes, he is. Right now, he may be injured, but he is going to the All-Star game along with Fukudome and he is leading his team in home runs and slugging % as of June 28, 2008. They should really give him a chance. Even these numbers may be a little disappointing for the money and being the centerpeice of the lineup. But becuase of his injuries, he is slowing down. If you put in the games he missed, he would really be an MVP candidate for both seasons.

Brian Roberts to Cubs?

The Orioles have already done enough damage to their team in my opinion by selling Erik Bedard and Miguel Tejada away and now look how they are doing. Tejada is going to the All-Star game while hitting in the .330's with a .400 OBP. Erik Bedars may still be injured but he is keeping up the same numbers at 4-1 on the season so far. To give Brian Roberts up would just be downright insane in my opinion. Right now he is second in the AL in doubles, 4th in stolen bases and 1st in triples. He is an extra base artist and to give him up would be out of my mind. He is very good and is a key part of the Orioles.

Regarding: Sabathia, Harden on Cubs radar?

Sabathia, Harden on Cubs radar?
Trading season is only about a month away, and suddenly Alfonso Soriano's broken hand is looking as much like a timely opportunity to showcase potential bargaining chips as a cause for concern. Matt Murton and Eric Patterson platooned in left during the first weekend of the City Series, combining to go 7-for-11 with two walks in the three games. Carlos Zambrano's injury and the recent hitting of Jim Edmonds makes it more likely that GM Jim Hendry will pursue pitching -- C.C. Sabathia and Rich Harden top the list -- than another left-handed bat.

Definately go for CC Sabathia, definately. He is one year removed from the Cy Young Award and is a gat pitcher who can throw a variety of filthy pitches. If he gets on a Cubs team with top notch run support he would be unstoppable. And to get him, they would be perfectly in line for a World Series shot against Boston (probably in my opinion). With the recent hitting of Jim Edmonds I thihk that would really put Rich Harden off of the list for the Cubs. They have great power, speed and averge on there team in Fukudome, Edmonds, Lee Soriano, Ryan Theriot and Aramas Ramirez. Getting Harden would just add to their already top batting lineup.

Also Zambrano recently got injured so I think it would be good to add more or less, a "second ace" into the rotation already with Zambrano. Also Dempster, Lilly and Marquis are pitching great. With that rotation of five the pitching for the Cubs would top the Red Sox and put them in a great place.

Also, just a thought, since closer Kerry Wood is great but really aging and on the decline of his career, they might also want to shop for a big time closer as well. He right now is 4-1 with a 2.56 ERA and 19 saves on the year. That is solid and definately even better for a late 30's guy or maybe older.

RIP Undertaker

The WWE is a growing sports entertainment system in the United States and even around the world and has come up greatly recently as they have undergone tours to London, Mexico, India and now Australia as well. Now, there may not be any WWE fans on FanNation but I bet many of you know who the legendary "Undertaker" is. The deadman who is the face of the WWE, right?

Well I have been closely paying attention to the WWE lately and I was at my friends house for an extreme pay-per-view where the main event was Undertaker vs. Ege for the World Heavyweight Championship which was to be contested as a Tables, Ladders and Chairs matchup. And if the legend lost, he would be banished from the WWE. Most of the fans said that Undertaker would have won the meatch if it wasnt for the lousy tactics of Edge and his family interfering.
