The Tampa Bay Rays- The Next Best Team In baseball

The Rays were created in 1998 and since then have arguably been the worst team in baseball. For ten straight years they have finished under .500 and the organization has been a joke. The Rays have been associated with losing in general.

Now, though, they are 1.5 games behind the Boston Red Sox in the Al East and are challenging them for the division. They are in a position to shock the baseball world and possibly end the Yankees- Red Sox dynasty that has ruled the AL East and the AL for ten years. With the Yankees a mediocre team and the Orioles not having the power to win down the stretch, it looks as if the race will be a close one between the Red Sox and Rays.

Boston Should Thank Their Fans

Even though the Boston Celtics had to take it to seven games with the Atlanta Hawks in the opening round, (a team that only had 37 wins during the regular season), they destroyed them at home in Game 7 by over 30 points. And now, against LeBron James and the Cavs, defending Eastern Conference Champs, they've blown them out at home. So now, in the playoffs, they're 6-0 at home and seem unbeatable, because all the games were blowouts.

However, they're not as good as you think they are, because they're 0-3 on the road against the Hawks. THE HAWKS. THE SUB-.500 8TH SEED TEAM THAT COULD HAVE BATEN THEM FOR THE BIGGEST UPSET IN NBA HISTORY. And now, they go on the road against the Cavs, into the home of LeBron and Daniel Gibson. If they just eked out a win vs. the Hawks, how can they possibly beat the Cavaliers, a much better team than the 4 seed? Maybe Boston just has their fans to thank for their 66 win season. Don't be suprised if it goes down the drain.
