The Eastern Conference Finals (NBA)
Finally, after what seemed like years, the Detroit Pistons have an opponent. Maybe the Celtics underestimated both their opponents, maybe they believed their own hype too much the first two rounds, but whatever it is, they've been unimpressive in their journeys outside of Massachusetts. They lost in Atlanta, a city that has a bad reputation as sports fans, and Cleveland, who tries with all their gimmicks like Loudville and what have you. Now they have to play road games in Detroit?
Not only that, but Cleveland was able to stay in 3 of the 4 games in Boston and a few breaks or maybe another player thats more than a competent role player and they win that series. The Celtics have been putting a lot of unnecessary pressure on themselves by not winning a road game in the playoffs so far. I also didn't like how Doc Rivers essentially gave away game 6 with his attitude of "only needing to win one of two" after their game 5 win. If Detroit wins game one, how will the Celtics respond? At first I thought Detroit might take game one but there will be so much adrenaline going that I think Boston will blow them out. Game two is a different story though.
I am intrigued by the battle of Minnesota between Flip Saunders and Kevin Garnett, the question will finally be answered, who sank the Timberwolves in 2004?
Detroit is going to win, in 6 games. Boston will finally win 1 road game in the playoffs, but it won't be enough.
