End of an Era: Brett Favre

While undoubtedly there are people that do not like or even hate the man but you probably will find them to be a minority among football fans in America.  Brett Favre is the icon of football and is the last of an era that included the likes of Dan Marino, Steve Young, John Elway, and company.

While you could make the argument that this is Tom Brady's or Peyton Manning's league and has been for several years...it still doesnt sit right that the front runner of the league looked up to a man that is supposedly beneath him.  Favre was the man and will always be the man in many fans eyes.

Miami Dolphins...THANK YOU PATS

haha...but it is true.

Why are the Dolphins happy about the punishment on the Pats?  They technically get 2 first round draft picks by default (the 1st and last of the 1st round)....So they are in prime position to help build up that franchise.

I know some people have them taking Long as the 1st overall pick or even Matt Ryan...but honestly I do not see either being that wise.  The 3-4 system is firmly being placed in Miami and unless they make Long an OLB...it would probably be a waste of a pick.

NFL updates

I hate football being over...but at least there is always something to talk about since every NFL event in the offseason garnishes alot of attention

1) Zach Thomas - I hated seeing him go and it will be strange to see him in a new uniform in 2008.  He is probably one of my favorite players and he is all heart and desire on the field.  I hope he does wind up in New England because I know he will make an impact there especially with Bruschi and Seau up in the air about what to do in 2008 and that might be his best chance to get a Super Bowl ring before he finally retires

2008 drop your money NFL FA

last year's FA was interesting but I think this year will be very intriguing with alot of teams probably looking to the FA market to fill their immediate needs as opposed to the draft.  With that said...the picture will not be clear until the start of the new NFL fiscal year when contracts expire.

Team's draft strategies will also reflect where they are probably going to be steering their ship as they may draft positions where a player might be leaving (Pittsburgh with Faneca comes to mind).

2007 NFL Wrap Up/ 2008 Preview

To start, congratulations to the Giants.  People may say the best team didnt win on Sunday night...but it certainly was a great game...perhaps one of the best of this decade thus far and arguably go as far as one of the top Super Bowls of all time.

While the Patriots were on the pursuit of perfection...they still were far from perfect.  They stumbled many times during the 2007 season and even in some of the playoffs before finally being upended in the Super Bowl.
