Season Preview for PSU

The schedule for PSU looks like it will be filled with tough primetime matchups, as well as interesting nonconference matchups. So lets have a look shall we?

PSU Recruiting Recap (Part 2): Offensive Line News!!

Now recently PSU has had weak recruiting classes for the offensive line, but this year is different. They got some very good guys, that aren't all named MIKE!!! How about that? Here are the little guys!!(Well big guys...)

1. Matt Stankiewich (OG)- Matt is from Schuykill, PA, and was the #15 rated guard in the country based on Scout.com's rankings. It was a surprise commitment but it is very hard to complain about getting one of the top-rated interior linemen in the country!!!

Penn State addresses the LB position in the offseason.

So Penn State has a great reputation as Linebacker U right? Anyone thinks that's going to change? Simply put, no. The Nittany Lions have 3 significant recruits signed up, they are all named Mike, and they all are great guys ranging from Louisiana to the backyard of PA...

1. Michael Mauti- Mauti is from Mandeville, LA, and is rated as Scout.com's #26 MLB. Pretty good, and those who watch him play says he brings 100% every single play of every single game. He is expected to compete for a job this spring, and has a chance to maybe see some action if the Lions are in the 3-4.

Penn State Stuns #17 Indiana in Overtime, 68-64

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; March 9, 2008 - Playing without its top two scorers and rebounders, Penn State (15-15, 7-11) sent four freshmen to the floor and stunned No. 18 Indiana (25-6, 14-4), 68-64, Sunday in the Bryce Jordan Center to wrap up the Nittany Lions' best Big Ten campaign since 2001.

With All-Big Ten honorees Geary Claxton and Jamelle Cornley both sidelined due to knee injuries, Penn State got a season-high 41 points and 28 rebounds from four freshmen to down its second Top 20 ranked team in its last five home games and extended its Big Ten home win streak to five games, its longest since 1996. With two victories over Top 25 teams on the year, Penn State has logged its most since the 2000-01 season and now has three such victories under coach Ed DeChellis.

PSU UPENDS MSU! YAY!

Nittany Nation,

I have seen all the while potential in this PSU basketball team. The way they played so hard against OSU, and even going back to last year's upset at Champaigne of the Fighting Illini. This program is working hard to be a contender in the Big Ten, and amazingly so, with some results. Yesterday's game featured 4, count em 4 PSU players in double digit figures in scoring. PSU's defense was stifling holding the Spartan's star Drew Neitzel was held to 6 again count em 6 points!!!! And after only having a 59% FT percentage all season, the Nittany Lions won this game by holding down on the FT line with 66.7% and they played well on defense all night. It was an unbelievable effort, and this was their first victory against a ranked opponent at home since they beat #6. Illinois in OT in 2001. And in my opinion, this was one of their best all around performances in the whole history of the program! Maybe that's an overstatement, but it was a huge victory, especially with the fact that Geary Claxton was missing. Maybe football season being over at State College won't be the end of the world anymore....
