Dunn is Done is Cincy

The Cincinnati Reds have Traded Adam Dunn to the Arizona D'back for right handed pitcher Dallas Buck and 2 players to be named. This trade was reported and confirmed by Scott Miller of CBS sports.  Currently Dunn is tied for the NL lead in HRs with 32, but the rest of his stats are not impressive. He is batting .233, OBP .373, K's 120 and RBIs 74.  In his last 7 games he has 27 at bats with 4 hits 0 HRs 10 K's and hitting .148.  Hope the D'back know what their doing.  My understanding is this traded was made to stay ahead of the Dodgers.  Doesn't seem like their getting their money's worth.  He is also just an average fielder, so only time will tell.

Baseball Transactions for August 9th, 2008

There are not many transactions that have happened today, unlike yesterday, where there were a lot of them.

Anyway, onto the transactions.

The Angels place Reggie Willits (.185/0 HR/5 RBI/.341 OBP/.231 slugging %/56 games) on the 15-day disabled list. They recalled infielder Sean Rodriguez from Salt Lake of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

Reggie Willits was palced on the DL and is said to have a concussion, as he collided with catcher Brian Brueny. He wasn't really helping the Angels anyway.

Teixeria Traded

For those who care about baseball Mark Teixeria has been traded from Atlanta Braves to Anaheim Angels (who think they're in L.A.) for Casey Kotchman and AA pitcher Stephen Marek.  Diamondbacks were believed to be the front runner, but were unwilling to give up Connor Jackson.  Not sure if this is a good move or not.  Teixeria is a free agent at the end of the season and may command 20M.  His agent is Scott Boras

Castro for McCoy

As an Oriole fan, we recently made a trade between us and the Rockies that will get us over the .500 mark this season . For a one demsional second baseman in Mike McCoy who has no speed and a week bat at age 27. Anyway weve been lacking a shortstop ever since we got ride of Tejada(why we didnt get one in the trade still confuses me) since Hernandez, Fahey, Bynum, and Cintron havent worked out as planed. Now Castro isnt a household name but he will be by the end of this season. In Triple A this year he was hitting .300 and at age 36 has the experence to get it done in the majors considering hes a great fielder and given the chance he has the potential to be a solid starter something he will need to do in order for the Orioles to finish over .500

Welcome back to the show old man

Yanks get Nady, Marte

The Yankees has acquired Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte from the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates received talented- outfielder Jose Tabata, RHP- Ross Ohlendorf, Jeff Karstens, and Dan McCutchen.

X-man    Marte

Nady will fill in the needed right-handed batter spot in the Yankees lineup. Nady- 29- is batting .330 with 13 homers, 57 RBIs, in 90 games.

Marte will help the Yankees need spot in the bullpen for a reliable left-handed pitcher. Marte- 33- was 4-0 with a 3.56 ERA in 47 pitching appearances. He allowed 38 hits and 18 earned runs in 46 2/3 innings.
