The World According to AdamLee

Sports in Pictures

For all the talk of the NBA Finals this week, the fact is that the greatest sporting event this week is the Belmont Stakes. Big Brown has many gambling addicts suffering through restless nights. But I have the inside scoop. In an upset for the ages the winner will be none other than WNBA's Rebecca Lobo.

Chicago is on the draft clock. While I am with many people in saying they should choose Memphis PG Derrick Rose, it isn't too late to take a flyer on a certain Johnny Kilroy. He did pretty well in Chitown if I remember.

The 1st Ever Sports Trial on FanNation

Each year in sports seems to bring more scandal. Whether this is due to a case of the inmates running the asylum or just an increase in sensationalized media is debatable, but one thing is not up for debate. The courts that stand over these athletes are far too lenient, often left in awe by the celebrity in front of them.

So, in the spirit of keeping a just sports society, I decided to play the part of judge, jury, and executioner. Call me His Honorable AdamLee. I assure you, I will not be as subjective as the groupies (aka Congress) were.

Around the Sports World in a Few Paragraphs

Black Hawk Down- It took 7 physical games to do it but finally the Boston Celtics can move past Atlanta. Props go out to an Atlanta team that realized its' potential and exceeded anything we could have hoped out of a 37 win team. World, meet Joe Johnson. He is one of the bext kept secrets in the NBA.

Somehow I doubt the Celtics are excited about facing Lebron James and the James-ettes. It will be intriguing to watch how Allen, Pierce, and Garnett (all over 30 years of age) come back from a physical series to face one of the strongest stars in the game. It was still impressive how they handled a young and enthusiastic Hawks team in game 7. Still, they should have been out of that series long before. One has to wonder how they will fare if they end up playing the Pistons, which it seems we are all waiting for.

Finally, an NBA playoff bracket worth watching

If there is one person that is probably grinning from ear to ear right now, it is David Stern. After the Tim Donaghy scandal, not to mention Kobe Bryant's rewrite of "Prison Break:L.A. edition", he has seen the NBA finally get back to what it had in the 90's. It finally has a group of teams in both conferences that are worth watching.

At this moment one could make a case for the Hornets, Spurs, Jazz, or Celtics to be the frontrunner in the race for the NBA title. Sadly, that race is turning into a marathon, not a sprint. The fact that the NBA playoffs could go on until June 1st is only matched by the stupidity of the MLB World Series moving into the month of November.

Back to Basics- Returning to FanNation

Hello everyone,
after a much longer hiatus than I expected that was full of acting in plays, making short films, and busting my hump to pass for my senior year, I am glad to be back. I only realized how long I have been away when I noticed I had made two blogs in the past two months or so, the last one being about the Rockets' 22 game winning streak. Sigh, those were the days...

Before we get ahead of ourselves I want to say hello to all the new members. I was a pretty active member last summer, and am lucky enough to blog for SI occasionally. (largely due to being on here, along with the kindness of SI editors and writers.)

I can only imagine a lot has changed, whether it be who is on top of the throwdown leaderboard or who is the most active group on FanNation. It is hard to believe it was a year ago that I started checking out the site. Now it kind of feels foreign to me...which leads me to my next thought.

I want to do what I can to be a bigger part of the community again. Last summer was a rollercoaster on here. (Those who were here can remember it. It ultimately led me to not do throwdowns anymore, something I want to start doing again.) But it was a fun ride for the most part. So why not do it again?

I will start blogging more actively starting tomorrow and then I want to start TDing again. It's good to be back. Let's have some fun.
