Stanley Cup Thoughts - Part Duex

The Pens cut the Wings lead to 3-2 Monday night, or was that Tuesday at the crack of dawn?  Going back to Pittsburgh it's now a series and not a blowout.  Marc-Andre Fleury put on an outstanding display in goal, and the Wings failed to close the deal by allowing a game evening goal with only a bit more than half a minute to go in the 3^rd period.  Petr Sykora then made the Wings pay the ultimate price in the third OT period by sailing a shot past Chris Osgood for the win.

Stanley Cup Playoff Thoughts, Monday Pre-game

A few thoughts on the Stanley Cup playoffs......Monday (pre-game)

First off let me say that I'm a huge Wings fan.

That being said, I'll also say that the Pens have some great talent.  Have they been exposed as frauds as some would say?  No, I don't think so.  The problem is they're playing a better team.  The Red Wings play as a unit, something the Pens need to learn.  Pittsburgh is a young team, and needs time to mature.  They could still push this to 7 games.  Nothing surprises me anymore.  I've seen some strange things happen over the years, and that could be one of them.  Do I think they will?  No.  Detroit is going to come out hot tonight, looking to finish at home.  After the first 2 games a lot of people wrote the Pens off on a sweep, but the Wings got just what they were looking for, a split in Pittsburgh.  I don't know if the Pens have it in them to withstand the pressure.  We'll see in a bit.
