Federer might be a Robot

Last night I watched what was probably the best quality tennis match I've seen in my lifetime.  Roddick vs. Federer at the US Open.  Neither were broken in the entire first two sets, which were both ultimately decided by tie-breakers.  Andy Roddick played the best he can play and still wasn't good enough to beat "Flawless Fed."  Roddick hit great shot after great shot, shots that would have been winners against anyone else and somehow Federer would get to them and hit a shot of equal or better quality.  He makes it look easy.  At one point, he hit an impossible return off of a 143 mile per hour Roddick serve.  It hit right on the back line and Roddick had an expression of "How'd he do that?" on his face.  Fed effortlessly gets to almost every shot and when he does make a mistake, you think it is just that, a mistake.  The guy rarely even sweats or breathes hard.  That says a lot considering the amount of running that takes place in a long tennis match.  The game must move so slow for him now that the court seems half the size.  My conclusion based on watching Fed for 5 years is, he MUST be a robot.

Reaction to the Vick apologists

First of all Mike Vick changed his plea to guilty from innocent.  It's not like they caught him and he was so sorry.  He is sorry that he got cought. He only did this because it was his ONLY option, so please stop making him out to be this apologetic martyr.  Whether he is truly sorry, none of us will know until a few years down the line if he has proven himself through his actions. The fact remains that if his lawyers thought they could have won the case, there would have been no apology and no Jesus finding...  In all honesty, I hope the man plays again. One mistake shouldn't ruin a guys career. People mess up, they pay the consequences and they go on with their lives. Perhaps the NFL will disagree if he is found guilty of the gambling charges, but I think he should be able to play after he serves his time. If he is willing to take the heat he will get from opposing fans, let him... If he overcomes, I'll give him his props no doubt. For now, ya suspect Mike...

Bynam isn't Worth the Wait

The Lakers didn't get Jason Kidd because they wouldn't give up Bynam. Now if they don't give up Bynam to get O'Neal, O'Neal says he would like to go to the Nets. So now Kobe could be playing against Kidd and O'Neal together rather than with one of them, all to keep Andrew Bynam. If Bynam was that good, we would know it by now. Get rid of him and give Kobe some real help. A real chance at a Ring now is much better than maybe a chance at one in 5-8 years when Bynam may or may not be a star. Am I wrong ...

Who's Now Sucks

Please stop using the ESPN who's now rating as a barometer, its embarrassing. Show some thought not based on crappy T.V. people, come on. By the way, Barry Bonds is about to break the all-time home run record and he didn't make it out of the first round. I am indifferent to Bonds, but that is the biggest and most revered record in sports. THAT'S NOW, whether you like him or not.  It's a popularity contest.

Too Many Arrests in College Football...

There have been 9 Florida players arrested since winning the National Championship, Texas players getting DUI's, and countless other arrests around college football every day. Perhaps the NCAA should start having violations such as these affect programs like taking money from boosters does. The NCAA polices what, for the most part, are harmless actions in the grand scheme of things.  They let arretsts happen at every school and do nothing about it. ( Yes, the school I am a fan of has come under NCAA discipline in the past month but that is not the fuel for this blog.)  If you make a school accountable for their players actions, they will do a much better job of putting quality players into their institutions.  Urban Meyer has applauded Roger Goodell's disciplinary actions in the NFL hoping it will have a trickle down effect to players all the way at to the Junior High level.  I hope he is right!  Michael Vick has proven for us what a millionare athelete with a sense of entitlement and who is an idiot to boot can really accomplish.  All you have to do is look at his younger brother Marcus to see what a positive role model Mike is.  You don't have to be a thug to be a B-A-D-A-S-S., no matter what color you are.  LaDanian proves that every Sunday.
