Gundy and "Garbage"

Does the ol' coach still hold true to his beliefs of not reading "garbage"?  I mean, when the "best recruit in 10 years" and the starting QB of the "second" big program in the state gets benched, and the head coach refuses to talk about it, its taboo to write about it.  And if you do, from your observations and the information you can infer, you "obviously don't have kids!".  It is wrong to write about an amateur athlete...

Leach ridiculed A&M's tradition

Leach ridiculed A&M's tradition as a military school in a New York Times story. In it, Leach said the A&M Corps of Cadets "get to pretend they are soldiers. The thing is, they aren't actually in the military." And he also stated, "I ought to have Mike's Pirate School. The freshmen, all they get is the bandana. When you're a senior, you get the sword and skull and crossbones. For homework, we'll work on pirate maneuvers and stuff like that."

Big XII Review: Texas vs. Iowa State

Good day to be a Texas fan. Finally, the Longhorns play a bad team and make them look even worse. Coming into the game Iowa State was averaging 350 yards a game and about 12 points. After 60 minutes, the Longhorns finished off the Cyclones by 53 and hold them to 228 yards with just three points; both season lows.

Colt McCoy looked like the scrawny little kid from last year, having fun, making acrobatic moves in the backfield, and finding the open man. McCoy even managed a 44-yard touchdown run that, while exciting, had Texas fans hoping he would not get hit. McCoy, along with his five touchdowns (4 passing, 1 rushing) was able to stay mistake free with no interceptions for only the second time this year, while completing 76 percent of his passes.

Tech Fans.

I want to start off by saying that the Tech Coaches and Players did a very good job today and really showed how much tallent they have, and I hope that your players get the attention that they deserve.

I have heard may stories about how disrespectful and unsportsman like the Tech fans are but I am not one to just go by what I hear so I went to the Tech vs A&M game today not only to "Hopefully" see my Aggies break the little win streak that Tech has on them but to also "Hopefully" dis-prove any ill will towards the Tech fans,...I mean hey this is the Big 12 Conference and the fans in it are the best of the best when it comes to being respectful and sportsman like.

Big XII preview: Texas at Iowa State

(23) Texas Longhorns (4-2, 0-2) @ Iowa State Cyclones (1-5, 0-2)

The Longhorns enter this game, having lost their last four Big XII conference games dating back to last year.

Looking at the two offenses, the clear edge belongs to the Horns.  Texas is averaging just over 31 (39th) points a game to Iowa State's (114th) 18.  Colt Mccoy actually looked pretty good against Oklahoma.  His only interception was on a ball that was thrown a little high, but hit Jamaal Charles in the hands and bounced off.  McCoy has had a sophomore year he would just as soon forget.  He is averaging 263 yards a game, but has thrown as many touchdowns (10) as interceptions.  With Limas Sweed gone for the season, look for McCoy to get sophomore tight end Jermichael Finley (4 catches 149 yards 1td vs. OU), more involved in the passing game.  McCoy should be able to go through his reads more fluently this game, as the Cyclones defense in the first six games, has only been able to manage nine sacks.
