After spending 9 years covering the San Francisco Giants, Oakland A's, Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings as sports director at KHTN-FM, KYLO-FM, and KSEG-FM, I decided to try my hand in the blogosphere. Starting this blog has given me an excuse to obsess about my all-time favorite team, the San Francisco Giants. Some of my fondest memories growing up as a kid in Northern California involved the boys in orange and black. At the age of 11, I attended my first Giants game in 1975 and was instantly hooked. My favorite players were Willie McCovey, Vida Blue, Mike Ivie, Darrell Evans, and Jack Clark. Later, it was Roger Craig's Humm Babies of Matt Williams, Kevin Mitchell, and Will Clark, for whom this blog (and my dog) is named. When I wasn't at the 'Stick, I watched the games on Channel 31 and listened to games on KNBR (pretending -- as an aspiring broadcaster -- to be Lindsey Nelson and Hank Greenwald). I collected all kinds of Giants memorabilia (bobbleheads, game day programs, media guides, autographs, pennants, jerseys, baseball cards, you name it). I played full 162-game seasons of Nintendo's RBI Baseball with my best friend. I was always the Giants and he was always the A's. And despite having a far superior team (thanks to Nintendo giving Rickey Henderson unstoppable speed), I still managed to win more games than I lost. 22gigantes is your informative, one-stop shop for everything Giants.
