Sorry Notorious...it was very much a dog fight. I made my last post while watching the match on DVR so I had my game face on. Van Der Sar is one of my all time favorite Keepers. He does have a history of substitutions though.

In retrospect we were really lucky to have drawn even on 80 minutes. Those kind of games make my skin crawl. But it's all good dude. I'm all chilled out now.

Thanks for your comment...and no chip on my shoulders. It's more like a pain in my arse, lol!
GoldenThread 09/25/08
hahaha always with the clever little remark goldenthread...must have built up quite a substantial chip on your shoulder...it's okay it must be hard being perpetually in 2nd place.
Notorious O.T.T. 09/25/08
Van Der Sar gimping out early on is the reason you didn't win. You need to reevaluate many aspects of what actually happened.
GoldenThread 09/25/08
boy that was a dogfight this weekend wasn't it? We should have beaten you but oh well I suppose we will just have to do it next time.

Ray Wilkins has been appointed Chelsea's assistant first-team coach, replacing Steve Clarke, who has moved to West Ham. Clarke spent 20 seasons at Chelsea, both as a player and as a coach. The 45-year-old Clarke joins West Ham on a three-year deal, joining up with new boss Gianfranco Zola, after handing in his resignation last Thursday.

Chelsea captain John Terry has been cleared to play against Manchester United on Sunday after his appeal against a red card proved successful. Terry was sent off for a foul on Manchester City striker Jo, but a Football Association hearing upheld Chelsea's claim of wrongful dismissal. Had the ban been enforced, Terry would have missed Sunday's crucial Premier League clash with champions United, as well as the Carling Cup tie against Portsmouth on 24 September and the league encounter with Stoke three days later. The foul on Jo occurred inside the centre circle, with Terry's centre-back partner Ricardo Carvalho covering the play and full-back Jose Bosingwa also sprinting back to defend. Chelsea's on-field complaints were initially based on the fact that Terry was not the last defender.

Chelsea's Michael Essien has had knee surgery in France to repair a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
The midfielder suffered the injury during Ghana's World Cup qualifier against Libya on 5 September. Essien is expected to be out of action for five months and a Chelsea spokesman told BBC Sport: "The operation has been a success." Essien landed awkwardly during the qualifier against Libya and was taken to hospital for scans, which confirmed the ligament damage.

Chelsea opened their Champions League campaign in emphatic fashion with a comfortable win against Bordeaux 4- Nil. Frank Lampard headed Chelsea in front after only 14 minutes from Jose Bosingwa's perfect right-wing cross.

Joe Cole then glanced in Lampard's corner on the half-hour as Chelsea took complete control.

Florent Malouda added the third with a driven left-foot shot eight minutes from time and Nicolas Anelka tapped in a fourth in injury time. Bordeaux were tame opposition, with Chelsea keeper Petr Cech not forced into serious action at any point, but it was still an impressive show as the Premier League leaders continued the form that has taken them to the summit.

Today's theme is WHITE...and lots of it.

Michael Essien is out for 5 months after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament. The 25 y/o midfielder suffered the injury during Ghana's World Cup qualifier against Libya in Tripoli on Friday.

This is really BAD NEWS guys!

Yes, you are the Champions and deservedly so. The highlight of the week has to be Ronaldo's penalty kicks against Arsenal. He went into motion and then stopped, causing encroachment but he scored the goal. The whistle blows and he's forced to do a rekick. Second time, he does exactly the same thing again. The goal counts this time.
He should have gotten called on that. There's no way that's a legal kick. But, it looked sweet as hell and I've watched it over and over again. Congratulations jeeves. I'm happy for you.

The Chelsea FC touched down in Istanbul,Turkey earlier this afternoon as they prepare for their Wednesday's Champions League Match against Fenerbah??e. The Blues are indeed a busy team this week, which means I'm busy keeping all of you fans up to date on the latest happenings from West London......Recaping Chelsea's last match on Sunday 30/3/08 against Middlesbrough, we saw a Chelsea club that played one of it's most dismal matches of the season. The match began in typical Chelsea fashion when at 4 minutes in Ricardo Carvalho scored his first goal of the season with a magnificant header from 12 yards on a Wayne Bridge freekick which was the result of Michael Balloack being fouled on the Left Wing. With Chelsea assuming a 1- nil lead, the rest of the match was rag tag futball. The Chelsea offense dwindled down to nothing at all and their defense became extremely lax. This match could very easily have ended with Middlesbrough victorious at 4-1. The problem was that Middlesbrough absolutely couldn't find the net. This being show cased in the 81st minute when Boro somehow hit wood twice and failed to score, and to further frustration, a third Boro played got the second rebound and then whiffed WIDE left of a completely empty net. When time finally ran out, Chelsea was fortunate enough to be holding a 1- nil lead. I'm going to give the play of the game to Ricardo Carvalho since he scored the loan goal.at 4 minutes.......Chelsea continued in it's home game dominance by upping their record to 79 straight wins now at Stamford Bridge. In so doing, Chelsea also keeps pace with League leading Manchester United who easily downed Aston Villa 4 - nil the day before. The attendance for Sundays Match against Boro was 39,993 strong. After tomorrow's Match with Fenerbah??e, Chelsea will be flying back to Heathrow and preparing for their next Premier League Match which will be held this Saturday 5/4/08 at Manchester City. Lets all wish Chelsea the best of luck on Wednesday in it's Champions League Match up in Turkey.
GoldenThread 04/01/08
Sunday 23/3/08....Chelsea improved their home unbeaten streak to 78 straight wins at Stamford Bridge by defeating Arsenal 2-1. Arsenal's Bacary Sagna opened the scoring with a 59 minute head shot to put his team up 1-0. Chelsea fought back quickly and eventually took the lead on a Didier Drogba double. Drogba scored the tieing goal at 73 minutes and put Chelsea ahead to stay with his second goal coming at 82 minutes. The crowd in attendance was 41,824 strong. The win moves chelsea to within 5 points of Leauge leader Manchester United who were busy downing Liverpool 3-0. Chelsea's next match will also be held at Stanford Bridge on 30/3/08 against Middlesbrough.
